SNAKE


This is the next animal in my continuing series large version and little version.  This is the pattern for the large snake.  The snake can be made in any color and with or without color change.  I will indicate in the pattern when I changed colors but that is completely up to the person making the snake.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  purple, yellow, black, and perfect pink.
E crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
2 black 12mm animal eyes with washers
Tapestry needle

SNAKE:
Rd 1: With purple, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (6)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 3: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 5: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rds 6-7: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 8: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc)  around.  (24)
Rds 9-11: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 12: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rds 13-14: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 15: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 16: sc in each sc around.  (12) Change to yellow.
ATTACH EYES AT THIS POINT.
STUFF HEAD AT THIS POINT.  CONTINUE STUFFING AS YOU GO.
Rds 17-20: sc in each sc around.  (12)  Change to purple.
Rds 21-60: sc in each sc around.  (12)  Change to yellow.
Rd 61: sc2tog, sc in next 10 sc.  (11)
Rd 62: sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc.  (10)
Rds 63-64: sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 65: sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc.  (9)
Rd 66: sc in next sc, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc.  (8)
Rd 67: sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc.  (7)
Rd 68: sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc.  (6)
Rd 69: sc2tog around.  (3)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

MOUTH:
Embroider mouth on head of SNAKE.

TONGUE:
Rw 1: With perfect pink, ch 16, slip st in second ch from hook, slip in next 2 ch, ch 4, slip st in second ch from hook, slip st in next 2 ch, slip st in each remaining ch of original ch.  Finish off.  Sew to head at mouth line.
