LITTLE JOKER
This is rendering of the famed Joker character from DC Comics Batman comic and movies. It is the continuing series of dolls depicting popular comics book characters. I starting on comics characters as a respond that I was making characters that were for girls.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: White, lavender, black, aruba sea, and orchid.
D crochet hook
Red and black embroidery floss
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
DOLL:
BODY:
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. (9)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (12)
Rd 4: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (15)
Rds 5-8: sc in each sc around. (15)
Rd 9: (sc2tog) 7 times, sc in next sc. (8)
Rds 10-11: sc in each sc around. (8) Change to aruba sea after Rd 10.
Rd 12: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (12)
Rd 13: 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 7 sc. (17)
Rd 14: sc in each sc around. (17)
Rd 15: (sc2tog) 5 times, sc in next 7 sc. (12)
Rds 16-18: sc in each sc around. (12) Change to lavender after Rd 18.
Rd 19: sc in next sc, change to aruba sea, sc in next sc, change to lavender, sc in next 2 sc, change to aruba sea, sc in next sc, change to lavender, sc in next 7 sc. (12)
Rd 20: sc in each sc around. (12)
BEGIN STUFFING JOKER DOLL AT THIS POINT AND CONTINUE TO STUFF AS YOU GO.
RIGHT LEG:
Rd 21: sc in next 3 sc, skip next 6 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (6)
Rd 22-28: sc in each sc around. (6) Change to black after Rd 28.
Rd 29: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc. (5)
Rd 30: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc. (7)
Rd 31: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (9)
Rd 32: sc in each sc around. (9)
Rd 33: Working in back loops only, (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail to close opening. Whip stitch the opening closed. Weave in ends.
LEFT LEG:
Rd 21: Attach lavender in first skipped sc with slip st, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 5 sc. (6)
Rds 22-33: Same as RIGHT LEG.
ARMS (MAKE 2):
STUFF ARMS AS YOU GO.
Rd 1: With orchid, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (5)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (5) Change to white.
Rds 3-9: sc in each sc around. (5)
Rd 10: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc. (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew ARMS to BODY. Sew ARMS to BODY.
JACKET:
Rw 1: With lavender, ch 15, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (14)
Rws 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (14)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc. (10, 2 ch-3 spaces)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 3 ch, sc in next 6 sc, sc in next 3 ch, sc2tog, (14)
JACKET SLEEVES:
Rw 1: Working first skipped sc of Rw 5, attach lavender with sc, sc in side of Rw 6, sc in each free of ch-3 space, sc in side of Rw 6: sc in second skipped sc of Rd 5. (7)
Rws 2-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (7)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew seam closed. Repeat in second armhole. Place JACKET on JOKER doll. Sew SLEEVE seams closed.
BOW;
Tie a small bow at center of Rd 12 using lavender.
EARS:
Rw 1: Attach white to sie of head of BODY een with ARMS, ch 1, sc over next 2 rounds, slip st in same sc as second sc. (2)
Finish off. Weave in ends. Repeat on other side of head.
Use embroidery floss to embroider eyes, nose, and mouth on doll. Fringe hair on doll and cut short, which should cause it to “go crazy.”
