MINION BABY SET

This is a pattern for a diaper cover, hat and boots set inspired by the Minion movie.  This was a request by a member of the church that my family attend.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Yellow, denim, black, white, and grey heather.
E and H crochet hook
Tapestry needle
¾ inch black button
Blue craft felt

DIAPER OVER:
Rw 1:    With denim and H hook, ch 45, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (44)
Rw 2:    Ch 2, turn; dc in each sc across.  (44)
Rw 3:    Ch 1, turn; sc in each dc across.  (44)
Rw 4:    Turn, slip St in next 10 sc, ch 2, dc in next 24 sc leaving remaining sc unworked.  (24)

DIAPER COVER EDGING:
Rd 1:    Attach denim at any point along size between Rw 10 and Rw 14, ch 1, sc evenly along edge of DIAPER COVER with 3 sc in each corner of DIAPER COVER.  Finish off and weave in ends.

BUTTON:
Fold DIAPER COVER into desired position.  Working through Rw 18 of the front and Rw 2 of both side straps without catching any of the dc of the side straps, sew button to DIAPER COVER.  Cut G from blue craft felt and glue to BUTTON.

HAT:
Rd 1: With yellow and H hook, 10 dc in magic ring, slip st in first dc.  (10)
Rd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each dc around, slip st in first dc.  (20)
Rd 3: Ch 2, (dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, slip st in first dc.  (30)

VEGETABLES

My daughter asked me to design a series of crochet edibles.  This is the next set of items in this series.  This pattern is a variety of vegetables to go along side of the variety of fruits.  It includes—pickle, tomato, cabbage, carrot, onion, corn on the cob, celery, eggplant, radish, bell pepper and olive.  This pattern also includes a basket to carry them in.  The basket can be made in any color.  My daughter loves red and blue, so I used red and blue sparkle yarn.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Paddy green, cherry red, orange, lemon, honeydew, medium thyme, sage, lavender, and any color for the basket.

With warm brown, cut 4 5 inch long pieces.  Tie pieces together in a knot leaving the ends long.  Unravel the yarn by pulling it apart until it looks like hair, or the root threads of an onion.

Rd 1: With white and E hook, 6 sc in magic ring.  Before you pull middle of ring tight, slip knot through hole.  Pull tight so that the knot cannot come back out.  If desired, secure ROOTS with a few small stitches.

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Using tail, pull pimento into opening on top of olive.  Weave in ends.

CORN DOG

My daughter asked me to design a series of crochet edibles.  This is the next item in this series.  This pattern is a corn dog.  This pattern was inspired by Sonic Drive-in having fifty cent corn dogs on May 24 in celebration of National End of School Day.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Warm brown, buff, red, and yellow
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfill
Tapestry needle
8 inch piece of ¼ inch dowel

CORB DOG:
Rd 1: With warm brown, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rds 5-27: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 28: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
STUFF CORN DOG FIRMLY.
Rd 29: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 30: sc2tog around.  (6)  Change to buff.Ch
Rds 31-42: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Insert dowel into middle of CORN DOG.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 42, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.

KETCHUP AND MUSTARD:
With red for KETCHUP and yellow for MUSTARD, ch 50.  Finish off leaving a long tail.  Using tail, sew KETCHUP and MUSTARD in back-and-forth loop pattern on CORN DOG.
