LITTLE POCAHONTAS

This is rendering of the famed Pocahontas character from Disney’s Pocahontas.  It is the continuing series of dolls depicting each of the Disney Princesses and Tinkerbell.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Warm brown, gold, black, turqua, and lemon
Embroidery floss:  White, black, red, and magenta
D crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

DOLL:
Make Little Farrah doll with warm brown skin and  black hair and eyebrows.

DRESS:
BODICE:
Rw 1: With gold, ch 15, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (14)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (14)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (19)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc n each sc across.  (19)
Rw 5: turn; slip st in next 4 sc, ch1, (sc2tog) 5 times, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc.
Rw 6: turn; slip st in next 2 sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, sc in next 3 ch, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew back seam closed.

TASSLE EDGING:
Rw 1: Working with BODICE upside down and working over one row from top of BODICE, attach lemon, sc across BODICE to armhole, sc in free loops of ch-3, sc over sc of Row 4.  Finish off.

SKIRT:
Rd 1: Attach gold, ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), hdc in same st as ch-2, sc in next 4 ch, 2 hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 hdc in next ch, dc in next 4 ch, 2 hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, join with slip st in top of beginning ch-2.  (18)
Rd 2: Ch 2, hdc in next st, sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 4 sts hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, join.  (18)
Rd 3: Ch1, sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc innext st, sc in next 8 sts, 3 sc in next st, join.  (22) Change to lemon.
Rd 4: Ch1, scin next 9 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 9 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, join.  (26)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

NECKLACE:
With turqua, ch 12, slip st in fifth ch from hook, ch 8.  Finish off.

ASSEMBLY:
Place DRESS on doll and sew back seam closed.  Place NECKLACE around neck of doll and secure.

Use embroidery floss to embroider face on doll.
