#188 Skiploom


Skiploom was actually easier than making Hoppip.  Skiploom is a group of projects put together.  The Body is a pattern for a ball.  The Legs and Eyes are the same as Hoppip’s legs and eyes.  The Flower is a pattern for one piece of a flower scarf that I found online.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn:  Spring Green, White, and Yellow
Small amount of Black and Red
Crochet Hook F
Fiberfil
Yarn needle

BODY:
With Spring Green,
Rd 1:               6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rd 2:               2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rd 3:               sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)
Rd 4:               sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)
Rd 5:               sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (30)
Rd 6:               sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (36)
Rd 7:               sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (42)
Rd 8-13:          sc in each sc around (42)
Rd 14:             sc in next 5 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (36)
Rd 15:             sc in next 4 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (30)
Rd 16:             sc in next 3 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (24)
Begin stuffing at this point, continue stuffing as you progress.
Rd 17:             sc in next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (18)
Rd 18:             sc in next sc, dec in next 2 sc around (12)
Rd 19:             dec in next 2 sc around (6)
F/O leaving a tail.  Add any needed stuffing to finish out the shape.  Thread the tail through the last round and pull tightly to close.  Weave in ends.

LEGS (make 4)
With Rose,
Rd 1:               6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rd 2-3:            sc in each sc around (6)
F/O leaving a long enough tail to sew to body.  Sew to body and weave in ends.

EARS (make 2):
With Spring Green, ch 7,
Row 1:            sc in second ch from hook and in next 5 ch, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 2:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, ch 1, turn (7)
Row 3:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 4:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, ch 1, turn (9)
Row 5:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (9)
Row 6:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 7 sc, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 7:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 1, turn (7)
Row 8:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 9:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc, ch 1, turn (5)
Row 10:          dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 11:          dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, ch 1, turn (3)
F/O.   Sew ear to Body.  Weave in ends.

EYES (make 2):
With Red,
Rd 1:               6 sc in magic ring (6)
F/O leaving a long enough tail to sew eyes to body.  Weave in ends.

MOUTH:
With Black, backstitch mouth on Skiploom, using picture as reference.

FLOWER:
With White,
Rd 1:               8 sc in magic ring, join with sl st in first sc, ch 3, turn (8)
Rd 2:               (ch 3 counts as first dc), dc in first sc, 2 dc in each sc around, join, changing to Yellow in joining sl st. (16)
Rd 3:               ch 1, (sc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc) around, join (8 loops)
Rd 4:               Working in loops, (sc, 2dc, tr(triple crochet), 2dc, sc) in each loop (8 petals)
F/O.  Weave in ends.  Sew to top of Body between ears.  Weave in ends.
