#169 Crobat


Crobat is made in a similar fashion as Golbat.  The body is not to be over stuffed so that the body is almost the shape of a flattened heart. 

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn:  Purple and Teal
Small amount White, Gold, and Red yarn
Crochet Hook F
Fiberfil
1 12” chenille stem (cut in half)
1 18” floral wire (cut in half)
Craft Glue
Yarn needle

HORNS (make 2)
With lavender
Rd 1:               6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rd 2:               sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (9)
Rd 3:               sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)
Rd 4:               sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (14)
Rd 5:               sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (16)
Rd 6:               sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)
Rd 7:               sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (20)
Rd 8:               sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (22)
F/O after first horn is made but not the second.

BODY:
Rd 9:               sc in first 11 sc, sc in each sc of second horn, sc in remaining sc of first horn (44)
Rd 10-18:        sc in each sc around (44)
Rd 19:             sc in next 9 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (40)
Rd 20:             sc in next 8 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (36)
Rd 21:             sc in next 4 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (30)
Rd 22:             sc in next 3 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (24)
Begin stuffing at this point, continue stuffing as you progress.
Rd 23:             sc in next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (18)
Rd 24:             sc in next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (12)
Rd 25:             dec in next 2 sc around (6)
F/O leaving a long tail. Add any stuffing needed to finish out the shape, weave the tail through the last round and pull to close. Weave in ends.

EYES (make 2)
With red,
Rd 1:               6 sc in magic ring, changing to gold in last stitch (or the join sl st if joining rounds (6)
Rd 2:               2 sc in next 5 sc, leaving the remain sc unstitched (10)
F/O leaving a long tail to sew to the body.

MOUTH:
With white, ch 2,
Row 1:            2 sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 2:            2 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 3:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 4:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 5:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc (10)
F/O leaving a long tail to be used to sew the mouth to the body.  Weave in ends

LEGS (make 2)
With lavender, ch 5,
Row 1:            sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 2:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 3:            sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (5)

Rd 1:               sc along edge of leg, 2 sc in each point
F/O leaving a long tail to sew leg to body.  Weave in ends.

Body of wings:
With teal, ch 5,
Row 1:            sc in second ch from hook and in next 3 ch, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 2:            sc in next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sc, ch 1, turn (3)
Row 3:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (3)
Row 4:            2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 5-13:       2 sc in next sc, sc in remaining sc across, ch 1, turn (13 on Row 13)
Row 14:          dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (13)
Row 15-25:     dec in next 2 sc, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (2 on Row 25)
Row 26:          dec in next 2 sc (1)
F/O, do not worry about weaving in ends.  Next we are covering then.

Edging:
With lavender,
Join yarn at the far corner of wing, and sc all the way along top edge of wing with (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc) in to point of wing.  F/O leaving a long tail to sew the wing on to the body.   Edging should be done over the floral wire to give the wing some stability.
