ECLIPSE NAYOKADOREN

Eclipse Nayokadoren was designed by my friend Hannah Loveday. Eclipse is the son of Calypso. Eclipse is a black Nayokadoren with white accent pieces. He wears a moon and star necklace. The Size 7 crochet hook is only used in making the necklace.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: black, white, light blue, navy blue, and delft blue.
C and Size 7 crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
White chenille stem (cut in half)
Floral wire
White, blue, and silver crochet cotton

BODY:
Rd 1: With black, 9 sc in magic ring. (9)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (18)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (24)
Rds 4-10: sc in each sc around. (24)
Rd 11: sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next sc) twice, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc. (21)
Rd 12: sc in each sc around. (21)
Rd 13: sc in next 8 sc, sc2tog, sc in next sc, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc. (19)
Rd 14: sc in each sc around. (19)
Rd 15: sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc. (18)

BEGIN STUFFING BODY AT THIS POINT. CONTINUE STUFFING FIRMLY AS YOU GO.

Rd 7: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc. (14)
Rd 8: sc2tog, sc in next 10 sc, sc2tog. (12)
Rd 9: sc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts. (14)
Rd 10: sc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, sc in next 6 sts. (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Stuff NECK firmly. Sew NECK to BODY. Weave in ends.

LARGE TOES (MAKE 4):
Rd 1: With black, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (4)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

FRONT LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rd 3: sc in next 4 sc, 4-dc popcorn st in next sc, holding next sc on FRONT LEGS and first sc on LARGE TOES together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 2 sc, 4-dc popcorn st in next sc on FRONT LEGS, sc in next 4 sc.
Rd 4: sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 2 sc on LARGE TOES, sc in next 5 sc on FRONT LEGS.
Rd 5: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc. (8)
Rds 6-9: sc in each sc around. (8)
BEGIN STUFFING FRONT LEGS FIRMLY. CONTINUE STUFFING FIRMLY AT BOTTOM AND MEDUIM LIGHT AT TOP SO IT CAN BE FLATTENED
Rd 10: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc. (10)
Rd 11: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (12)
Rd 12: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (12)

Rd 15: sc2tog around. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through sc of Rd 15, pull tightly and secure. Sew FRONT LEGS to BODY. Weave in ends.

HIND LEGS (MAKE 2):

Rd 3: sc in next 4 sc, 4-dc popcorn st in next sc, holding next sc on FRONT LEGS and first sc on LARGE TOES together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 2 sc, 4-dc popcorn st in next sc on FRONT LEGS, sc in next 4 sc.

Finish off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through sc of Rd 14, pull tightly and secure. Sew HEAD to NECK. Weave in ends.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (4)
Rd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. (5)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around. (5)
Rd 5: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. (6)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Stuff EARS firmly. Sew EAR to HEAD. Weave in ends.

EYES, MOUTH, AND NOSE:

Using navy blue, delft blue, light blue, and white, embroider the EYES on HEAD. With white crochet cotton, embroider the MOUTH and NOSE.

EYEBROWS (COMPLETE ABOVE BOTH EYES):
Rw 1: Working over top edge of EYES, attach white, ch 1, sc in over next 3 sc, slip st in next sc. (5)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

CHEST FUR:
LARGE POINT:

Rw 1: With white, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook. (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc. (2)
Finish off. Weave in ends.
SMALL POINTS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 1, sc in second ch from hook. (1)
Finish off in first SMALL POINT. DO NOT FINISH OFF in second SMALL POINT.
CHEST FUR BODY:
Rw 1: Ch 1, sc in next sc on second SMALL POINT, sc in next 2 sc on LARGE POINT, sc in next sc on first SMALL POINT. (4)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc2tog. (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew CHEST FUR to BODY. Weave in ends.

HIP MOONS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next sc, 2 hdc in next 2 ch, 2 dc in next 2 ch, 2 2 hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 ch. (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew HIP MOONS to HIND LEGS. Weave in ends.

LARGE TAIL FEATHERS (MAKE 3):
Rd 1: With white, ch 10, 2 sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, slip st in first sc. (20)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

SMALL TAIL FEATHERS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 7, 2 sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch, slip st in first sc. (13)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew TAIL FEATHERS together. Sew TAIL FEATHERS to tip of tail of BODY. Weave in ends.

MOON:

Rw 1: With silver crochet cotton and Size 7 crochet hook, ch 15, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, 2 dc in next 3 ch, 2 tr in next 2 ch, 2 dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 ch. (22)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; slip st in next 5 sts, sc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, slip st in next st.
Finish off. Weave in ends.
STAR:
Rd 1: With blue crochet cotton and Size 7 crochet hook, 8 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc changing to silver.
Rd 2: (ch 2, slip st in next sc, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, slip st in next sc) around.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew STAR to MOON. Weave in ends.
CHAIN:
With silver crochet cotton and size 7 crochet hook, ch 30, sc in first sc of Rw 2 on MOON, ch 30, slip st in first ch.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Slip NECKLACE around neck of ECLIPSE and secure to base of NECK. Weave in ends.
