BETTA FISH

This was my first attempt to make a Betta Fish is preparation in making on that looks like a Betta fish that a friend lost recently. I used teal and Aruba sea yarn to make this one, but it can be made on any color or combination of colors.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Body color and fin color
F crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
6mm safety eyes

BODY:
Rd 1: With body color, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (8)
Rd 3: 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (10)
Rd 4: 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (12)
Rds 5-12: sc in each sc around. (12)
INSERT SAFETY EYES BETWEEN RDS 3 AND 4 WITH 3 SC BETWEEN EACH EYES.
BEGIN STUFFING BODY FIRMLY. CONTINUE STUFFING BODY FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.

Rd 13: (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around. (10)
Rd 14: sc in each sc around. (10)
Rd 15: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around. (8)
Rd 16: sc in each sc around. (8)
Rd 17: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around. (6) Change to fin color.
Rd 18: Flatten the body and working through both layers, sc in next 3 sc. (3)
Rd 19: Ch 2, 4 dc in next 3 sc, working in the side of Rds, 2 dc in next 5 Rds, sc in next Rd. (23)
Rd 20: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next 21 dc, working in the side of Rds, 2 dc in the side of Rd 19, 2 dc in the side of Rd 18, dc in next 7 Rds, sc in next sc. (56)
Rd 21: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, 2 dc in next 7 sts, sc in next 4 sts, slip st in next st. (20)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

BOTTOM FINS:
Rw 1: Attach fin color in bottom sc of Rd 4 with slip st, ch 5, slip st in second ch form hook, slip st in next 3 ch, slip st in same sc as attachment, ch 5, slip st in second ch from hook, slip st in next 3 ch, slip st in same sc as attachment.
Finish off. Weave in ends.

PECTORAL FINS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With fin color, 8 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc. (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew PECTORAL FINS to BODY. Weave in ends.
