BEE

This is a bee applique to go along with a Home Sweet Home sign that my wife painted. I made 4 bees, in 2 different sizes, for the sign. The 4 bees represent my family.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: black, gold, and white.
B crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Black chenille stem
Glue

BODY:
Rw 1: With black, ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook. (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc. (3)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. (5)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (7) Change to gold.
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (9) Change to black.
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (9) Change to gold.
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (9) Change to black.
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog. (7) Change to gold.
Rw 9: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog. (5) Change to black.
Rw 10: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (7)
Rws 11-13: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (7)
Rw 14: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog. (5)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

ANTENNA:
Using black chenille stem to create ANTENNA. Glue in place.

WINGS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 7, hdc in third ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch. (5)
Rw 2: Ch 9, hdc in third ch from hook, dc in next ch, tr in next ch, working over ch and in sts of Rw 1, tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st. (7)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew WINGS to BODY. Weave in ends.
