EXTRA LONG RIBBED STOCKING HAT

This is a request from a co-worker.  The hat that I made for him was basically a stretched version of my Ribbed Beanie Hat.  He wanted the hat made with black ribbing with blue and purple striping with a black tassel at the end.  The hat can be made in any color.

 MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: black, blue and purple.
H crochet hook
Tapestry needle

RIBBED CUFF:
Rw 1: With black, ch 13, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (12)
Rws 2-65: Working in back loops only, ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (12)
Rw 66: Holding Row 65 and free loops of foundation ch and working through both thicknesses, ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (12)
Finish off.

HAT:
Rd 1: Working in side of RIBBED CUFF, attach blue, ch 2, dc in each row, join with slip st in first dc.  (66)
Rds 2-13: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join.  (66)  Change to purple.
Rds 14-26: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join.  (66)  Change to blue.
Rds 27-37: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join.  (66)
Rd 38: Ch 2, (dc in next 31 dc, dc2tog) around, join.  (64)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 16, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

TASSEL:
I throw this option here because a tassel on top of the hat would conceal the closing of the hat.  The size of the tassel is up to the person making the hat.
