HALLOWEEN HELLO KITTY


This is a Hello Kitty doll that I made for my daughter.  This is an adaptation of a plush Hello Kitty that she saw at Wal-Mart.  Unfortunately, before I could buy it for her, they sold out of them.  I went to three different Wal-Marts trying to find one.  So, I decided to make one for her.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  White, black, orange, shocking pink, and gold.
E crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rds 3-13: sc in each sc around.  (10)
Finish off.  Stuff ARMS firmly.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, 5 sc in magic ring.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Rds 4-5: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to white.
Rd 6: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to black.
Rd 7: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to white.
Rd 8: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to black.
Rd 9: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to white.
Rd 10: sc in each sc around.  (15)  Change to black.
Rd 11: sc in each sc around.  (15)
Finish off first leg.  Do not finish off after making second leg.

BODY:
Rd 1: Holding LEGS together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 3 sc, working in right leg, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times, working in left leg, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times.  (30)
Rds 2-6: sc in each sc around.  (30)  Change to white after Rd 6.
Rd 7: (sc in next 13 sc, sc2tog) around.  (28)
Rd 8: (sc in next 12 sc, sc2tog) around.  (26)
Rd 9: (sc in next 11 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 10: (sc in next 10 sc, sc2tog) around.  (22)
Rd 11: (sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog) around.  (20)

OUTER EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 3 sc in second ch from hook.  (3)
Rd 2: Working through both thicknesses of INNER EAR and OUTER EAR, ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, (sc, dc, sc) in next sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (7)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew EARS to head of BODY.

EYES, NOSE, AND WHISKERS:
Embroider eyes, nose, and whiskers on head.

DRESS:
BODICE:
Rw 1: With pink, ch 36, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (35)  Change to orange.
Rws 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (35)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc) 3 times.  (32)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 10 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc) twice.  (30)
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc) twice.  (28)
Rw 9: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc) twice.  (26)

Finish off leaving a long tail to sew back seam closed.  Sew 2 black buttons on front of BODICE.

SKIRT:
Rd 1: Working in free loops of foundation ch, attach white, ch 1, sc in next 2 ch, (change to black, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, change to white, sc in next 4 ch) 4 times, change to black, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, change to white, sc in next 2 ch, slip st in first sc.  (40)
CONTINUE WITH COLOR CHANGES
Rd 2: Ch 1, turn; (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) around, join.  (50)
Rd 3: Ch 1, turn; (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc) around, join.  (60)
Rd 4: Ch 1, turn; (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc) around, join.  (70)
Rd 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, join changing to orange.  (70)

Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Place DRESS on DOLL and sew back seam closed.

Rw 2: Ch 2 (does not count as dc), 2 dc in next sc, dc in next 28 sc, 2 dc in next sc.  (32)
Rw 3: Ch 2, dc in each dc across.  (32)

CAPE TIE:
Ch 15, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in each ch across, ch 15.  Finish off.
Wrap CAPE around HALLOWEEN HELLO KITTY’s shoulders and tie a knot.

  1. I've double checked many times and there are no directions for the head! Same with Christmas Kitty. Please, I'm using another pattern for the head but it seems too large. And the Halloween Kitty is quite cute.
