YANMEGA

This is the next Pokemon on my daughter’s VERY LONG “To Do” list that she gave me last December before Christmas.  Every baby Pokemon is on her list.  Yanmega is the Stage 1 Evolution of Yanma.  This will complete another evolution chain.  Yanma was one the first Pokemon patterns that I designed about 6 years ago.  I have included the color lists for both Yanmega and Shiny Yanmega.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Shiny alternative in parenthesis):  Emerald green (Blue), passion pink (shocking pink), black, and white.
E Crochet Hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
5 white chenille stems (1 cut in half)
3 black chenille stems

HEAD:
Rd 1: With emerald green, 8 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc.  (8)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (16)
Rd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (24)
Rd 4: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (32)
Rd 5: Ch 1, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc changing to passion pink.  (40)
Rds 6-8: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (40)
Rd 9: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc changing to emerald green.  (40)
Rd 10: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (40)
Rd 11: Ch 1, (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc.  (32)
Rd 12: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc.  (24)
Rd 13: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc.  (16)
STUFF HEAD FIRMLY.
Rd 14: Ch 1, sc2tog around, slip st in first sc.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 14, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

NOSE:
Rd 1: With emerald green, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew NOSE to HEAD.

TEETH (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook, sc2tog.  (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew TEETH to edge of NOSE.

BLACK EYE MARKINGS:
Using black, embroider BLACK EYE MARKINGS on HEAD.

HEAD FIN:
Rd 1: With black, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 4: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (10)
Rd 5: sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 6: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (12)
Rd 7: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 8: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (14)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew HEAD FIN to HEAD.  Weave in ends.

BODY:

LEGS:
Using black chenille stem, create LEGS and attach them to BODY.

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew TAIL SPIKES to TAIL adding a small amount of stuffing before closing.

TAIL FIN:
Rd 1: With black, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 4: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (10)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew TAIL FIN to TAIL.

Rd 1: With white, ch 11, working over white chenille stem, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, 4 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 3 ch.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew TAIL WINGS to TAIL.  Weave in ends.
