MANTYKE

This is the next Pokemon on my daughter’s VERY LONG “To Do” list that she gave me last December before Christmas.  Every baby Pokemon is on her list.  Mantyke is the baby Pokemon of Mantine.  This will complete another evolution chain.  Mantine (June 2011) was one of the first Pokemon that I made a plush of.  Like all the Pokemon that I have made in the last 2 years, I have included the color lists for both Mantyke and Shiny Mantyke.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Shiny alternative in parenthesis):  Royal blue (delft blue), light blue, black, white, passion pink, and perfect pink.
E Crochet Hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle

BODY:
Rd 1: With royal blue, 8 sc in magic ring.  (8)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 3: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (20)
Rd 4: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (28)
Rd 6: (sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (32)
Rd 7: (sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)
Rds 8-21: sc in each sc around.  (36)
Rd 22: (sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog) around.  (32)
Rd 23: (sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog) around.  (28)
Rd 24: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)

STUFF BODY FIRMLY.

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 27, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog.  (11)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog.  (9)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog.  (7)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog.  (5)

Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Sew BELLY to BODY.

EYES:
Using black and white, embroider EYES on MANTYKE.

MOUTH:
Using perfect pink and passion pink, embroider MOUTH on MANTYKE.

GILLS:
Using black, embroider GILLS on MANTYKE.

BACK EYES:
Using passion pink and light blue, embroider BACK EYES on MANTYKE.

BACK SMILE:
Using light blue, embroider BACK SMILE on MANTYKE.

ANTENNA (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With royal blue, 8 sc in magic ring.  (8)
Rds 2-5: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 6: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Rds 7-9: sc in each sc around.  (6)
STUFF ANTENNA FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING ANTENNA FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
