TIGER BOWLING SET

This set is a result of me working on the giraffe bowling set that I made for my wife while at work.  A co-worker saw me working on it.  My inspiration is a Penguin Bowling Set using the following pattern:  www.bittersweetblog.com/2009/01/19/not-quite-duck-pins.   My co-worker has brought on a series of animal-themed bowling sets.  This is a Tiger bowling set.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Bright orange, white, and black.
F crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
Tennis Ball
1 set of 12mm safety eyes for each tiger
6 plastic Yogurt lids or cardboard circles of equivalent size.

TIGER:
HEAD AND BODY:
Rd 1: With bright orange, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rds 5-9: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 10: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 11: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rds 12-13: sc in each sc around.  (12)
INSERT EYES AND STUFF HEAD LIGHTLY.
Rd 14: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 15: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 16: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 17: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)

NOW WORKING IN JOINED ROUNDS.
Rd 19: slip st in next sc changing to black, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 8 sc, change to bright orange, sc in next 12 sc, change to black, sc in next 9 sc, join with slip st in first sc.  (30)
Rd 20: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, change to bright orange, sc in next 20 sc, change to black, sc in next 5 sc, join changing to bright orange.  (30)
Rd 21: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, join changing to black.  (30)
Rd 22: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, change to bright orange, sc in next 20 sc, change to black, sc in next 5 sc, join.  (30)
Rd 23: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to bright orange, sc in next 22 sc, change to black, sc in next 4 sc, join.  (30)
Rd 24: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 6 sc, change to bright orange, sc in next 18 sc, change to black, sc in next 6 sc, join changing to bright orange.  (30)

NOW WORKING IN UNJOINED ROUNDS.
Rd 33: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around.  (30)
Rd 34: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.  (30)
STUFF BODY FIRMLY, AND FOR EXTRA STABILITY, INSERT A YOGURT LID CUT TO SIZE INTO THE BOTTOM.
Rd 35: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 36: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 37: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 38: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 38, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.

MUZZLE:
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, (sc twice, change to orange, sc once, change to white, sc twice) in second ch from hook working around ch, join with slip st in first sc.  (5)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 2 sc, change to orange, 2 sc in next sc, change to white, 2 sc in next 2 sc, join.  (10)
Rd 3: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sc, change to orange, sc in next 2 sc, change to white, sc in next 4 sc, join.  (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew MUZZLE to HEAD.  Sew to HEAD matching colors.  Stuff before closing.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook.  (1)  Change to black.
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc 4 times along three edges of white sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew EARS to HEAD.

BEARD:
LEFT SIDE:
Starting at MUZZLE, attach white, sc along jawline to EAR.
RIGHT SIDE:
Starting at EAR, attach white, sc along jawline to MUZZLE.

EYES, NOSE, MOUTH, AND STRIPES ON HEAD:
Embroider eyes, nose, mouth, and stripes using picture as guidance for placement.

STOMACH:
Rw 1: With white and F hook, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (3)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (5)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (5)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (7)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (8)
Rws 6-13: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew STOMACH to BODY.

BOWLING BALL:
Rd 1: With bowling ball color, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 6: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)
Rd 7: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (42)

INSERT TENNIS BALL, WHILE HOLDING IN PLACE, CONTINUE TO CROCHET AROUND IT.  YOU MAY NEED TO PULL YOUR FINISHED WORK TIGHTLY TO GET IT TO COVER THE BALL COMPLETELY.
Rd 14: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 15: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)

Rd 17: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 17, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.
