MONKEY BOWLING SET

This set is a result of me working on the giraffe bowling set that I made for my wife while at work.  A co-worker saw me working on it.  My inspiration is a Penguin Bowling Set using the following pattern:  www.bittersweetblog.com/2009/01/19/not-quite-duck-pins.  My co-worker has brought on a series of animal-themed bowling sets.  This is a monkey bowling set.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:   Café Latte, buff, and black.
F crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
Tennis Ball
1 set of 12mm safety eyes for each monkey
6 plastic Yogurt lids or cardboard circles of equivalent size.

MONKEY:
BODY:
Rd 1: With café latte, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (28)
Rds 6-9: sc in each sc around.  (28)
Rd 10: (sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (32)
Rds 11-12: sc in each sc around.  (32)
Rd 13: (sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog) around.  (28)
Rd 14: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 15: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 16: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
STUFF HEAD LIGHTLY.
Rd 17: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 18: 2 sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rds 19-21: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 22: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rds 23-33: sc in each sc around.  (30)
Rd 34: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.  (30)
STUFF BODY FIRMLY, AND FOR EXTRA STABILITY, INSERT A YOGURT LID CUT TO SIZE INTO THE BOTTOM.
Rd 35: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 36: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 37: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 38: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 38, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.

MUZZLE:
Rd 1: With buff, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, now continue on around the other side of the ch and sc in each ch across.  (14)
Rd 2: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 4: sc in next 3 sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Embroider mouth on MUZZLE.  Sew MUZZLE to head of BODY adding stuffing before closing.

EYE PATCHES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc.  (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Insert eyes in center of EYE PATCHES.  Sew EYE PATCHES together.  Sew EYE PATCHES on head of BODY just above MUZZLE.

EARS (MAKE 2):
INNER EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Finish off.
OUTER EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Rd 4: Holding INNER EAR and OUTER EAR together and working through both thicknesses, (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew EARS to head of BODY.

BELLY PATCH:
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: (3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around.  (10)
Rd 3: sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (14)
Rd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (18)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew BELLY PATCH to BODY.

BOWLING BALL:
Rd 1: With bowling ball color, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 6: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)
Rd 7: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (42)
Rds 8-11: sc in each sc around.  (42)
Rd 12: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (36)
Rd 13: (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around.  (30)
INSERT TENNIS BALL, WHILE HOLDING IN PLACE, CONTINUE TO CROCHET AROUND IT.  YOU MAY NEED TO PULL YOUR FINISHED WORK TIGHTLY TO GET IT TO COVER THE BALL COMPLETELY.
Rd 14: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 17, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.
