DUMBO


This pattern was a special request by a cousin of mine.  You should have seen her face when I delivered it her.  She now sleeps with it every night.  Here is the pattern that I created to bring such joy and happiness to my cousin Sarah.  I hope you enjoy it as much as she did.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Gray, red, yellow, peach, blue, and black
F crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
4 1¼ inch heavy cardboard circles

BODY:
Rd 1: With gray, 9 sc in magic ring.  (9)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (27)
Rd 4: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times.  (31)
Rd 5: sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 4 times.  (36)
Rds 6-23: sc in each sc around.  (36)
Rd 24: sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog, (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) 4 times.  (31)
Rd 25: sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog, (sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog) 3 times.  (27)
STUFF BODY AT THIS POINT FIRMLY.
Rd 26: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 27: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 28: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

HEAD:
Rd 1: With gray, 9 sc in magic ring.  (9)

INSERT CARDBOARD CIRCLE AT THIS TIME.
Rds 7-12: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 13: (sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog) around.  (16)
Rd 14: (sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog) around.  (14)
Rd 15: sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc.  (13)

Finish off leaving a long tail to sew LEG to BODY.  Sew to BODY.

COLLAR:
Rw 1: With red, ch 26, sc in second ch from hook and in each sc across.  (25)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 12 times, sc in next sc.  (37)  Change to yellow.
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 18 times, sc in next sc.  (55) Change to red.
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 27 times, sc in next sc.  (82)
Finish off.  Wrap around neck and sew edges together matching colors.

EARS  (MAKE 4 – 2 IN PEACH AND 2 IN GRAY):
Rw 1: Ch 11, dc in fourth ch from hook and in each ch across.  (8)
Rw 2: Ch 3 (Counts as first dc here and throughout), turn; dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc.  (9)
Rw 3: Ch 3, turn; dc in same dc as first dc, dc in next 8 dc.  (10)
Rw 4: Ch 3, turn; dc in next 9 dc, 2 dc in next dc.  (11)
Rw 5: Ch 3, turn; dc in same dc as first dc, dc in next 10 dc.  (12)
Rw 6: Ch 3, turn; dc in next 11 dc, 2 dc in next dc.  (13)
Rw 7: Ch 3, turn; dc in same dc as first dc, dc in next 12 dc.  (14)

Rd 1: Holding a peach and gray ear together and working through both thickness, sc evenly around ear starting at straight top edge of ear and ending after finishing bottom edge of ear.  Finish off leaving a tail to sew to HEAD.  Sew to HEAD.

HAT:
Rd 1: With yellow, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rds 3-7: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rds 8-10: sc in next 3 sc, slip st in next 4 sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (12)
Rds 11-12: sc in each st around.  (12)
