ELKI SCORPOSWIND TRAVELER

 
This is the continuation of a series of dragons that are custom designed by a customer on Etsy. They are from a series of stories that she is developing called Fragile—A Tale of Dragon Refugees. Elki is the first of the Scorposwind Traveler breed from the story.

Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew BELLY STRIPE to BODY and BELLY. Weave in ends.

TAIL STRIPES (MAKE 3):
Rw 1: With carrot, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew TAIL STRIPES to BODY with 4 Rds between each TAIL STRIPE. Weave in ends.

TAIL FINS (MAKE 3):

Rw 1: With pewter, ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook. (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (2)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next 2 sc. (4)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (6)
Rws 5-6: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (6)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog. (4)

Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew 1 TAIL FIN to tip of tail. Sew the other TAIL FINS to the side of tail point folding them around edge of first TAIL FIN sewn to tip of tail. Weave in ends.

Rd 3: sc in next 5 sc, (holding next sc on FRONT LEGS and first sc on TOENAILS together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 2 sc) 3 times, sc in next 5 sc on FRONT LEGS.

EYES, LIGHTNING BOLTS, CHEEK MARKINGS, MOUTH, AND NOSTRILS:
Using white, claret, and black, embroider EYES on HEAD. Using carrot, embroider LIGHTNING BOLTS to HEAD. Using white, embroider CHEEK MARKINGS to HEAD. Using black, embroider MOUTH and NOSTRILS on HEAD.

EYEBROW SPIKES (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With carrot, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook. (1)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew EYEBROW SPIKES to HEAD. Weave in ends.

CHEEK SPIKES (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With burgundy, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (3)
Rw 2: Ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew CHEEK SPIKES to HEAD just below CHEEK MARKINGS. Weave in ends.

HORNS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With burgundy, ch 2, 4 sc in magic ring. (4)
Rds 2-9: sc in each sc around. (4) Change to café latte after Rd 9.
Rd 10:    (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Rd 11:    sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Stuff HORNS firmly. Insert chenille stem. Sew HORNS to HEAD. Weave in ends. Bend HORNS to shape.

EARS (MAKE 2):

Rw 1: With golden yellow, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook. (1)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc. (2)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (2)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. (3)
