F-18 HORNET

This has been an idea that I have been contemplating for months ever since I saw a knitting pattern on the Internet for a little F-18 Hornet fashioned after the famed Blue Angels.  Since I could not find a crochet pattern on the Internet, I decided to design one myself.  Here is the pattern that I came up with.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:     Royal, black, light blue and yellow.
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle

THRUSTERS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1:      With black, ch 4, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 2 ch.  (8)
Rds 2-3:                sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 4:      sc in next sc, leaving remaining sc unworked.  (1)
Finish off in first THRUSTER.  Do not finish off in second THRUSTER changing to royal.

FUSELAGE:
Rd 1:      sc in next 4 sc on second THRUSTER, sc in next 8 sc on first THRUSTER, sc in next 4 sc on second THRUSTER.  (16)
Rds 2-4:                sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 5:      (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (20)
Rds 6-15:              sc in each sc around.  (20)
Rd 16:    (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (16)
Rd 17:    sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 18;    (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rds 19-22:           sc in each sc around.   (12)
Rd 23:    (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (8)
Rds 24-29:           sc in each sc around.  (8)
STUFF FUSELAGE FIRMLY.
Rd 30:    sc2tog around.  (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 30, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.  Using yellow, embroider details lines down center of FUSELAGE.

FRONT WINGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1:      With yellow, ch 4, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 2 ch.  (8)
Rd 2:      sc in each sc around.  (8)  Change to royal.
Rds 3-5:                sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 6:      2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc.  (10)
Rds 7-9:                sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 10:    sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc.  (12)
Rds 11-13:           sc in each sc around.  (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff FRONT WINGS firmly.  Sew FRONT WINGS to FUSELAGE.  Weave in ends.

REAR WINGS AND FINS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1:      With yellow, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2:      sc in each sc around.  (4)  Change to royal.
Rds 3-4:                sc in each sc around.  (4)
Rd 5:      2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (6)
Rds 6-8:                sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff REAR WINGS and FINS firmly.  Sew REAR WINGS and FINS to FUSELAGE.  Weave in ends.

COCKPIT:
Rd 1:      With light blue, ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next ch.  (6)
Rd 2:      (3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around.  (10)
Rd 3;      (sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) around.  (14)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew COCKPIT to FUSELAGE stuffing before closing.  Weave in ends.
