BUTTERFLY KEYCHAIN

I was recently asked to make a keychain with a butterfly on it.  This is the pattern that I came up with it.  It is a pretty easy pattern.  The butterfly can be made in any color the maker it to be.  I made the one in the picture using both her husband’s and hers’ birthstone colors.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn:  Light blue, red, and black.
H crochet hook
Tapestry needle
2-inch keyring
3-inch keyring

BUTTERFLY WINGS:
Rd 1: With red, ch 4, slip st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, slip st in ring, ch 4, slip st in ring, ch 4, slip st in ring, ch 3, slip st in ring.
Rd 2: slip st into ch-3 space, ch 1, 6 sc in ch-3 space, 8 sc in next ch-4 space, 8 sc in next ch-4 space, 6 sc in next ch-3 space, slip st in first sc changing to light blue.
Rd 3: ch 1, sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, slip st in foundation ring, slip s tin next sc, sc in next sc, 2 dc in next 3 sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, slip st in foundation ring, slip st in next sc, sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, 2 dc in next 3 sc, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, slip st in foundation ring, slip st in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, slip st in foundation ring.
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

BUTTERFLY BODY:
Holding 2 strands of black leaving a 6-inch tail, ch 6, finish off leaving a 6-inch tail.

ASSEMBLY:
Attach keyrings together.  Using beginning tail, sew BUTTERFLY BODY to BUTTERFLY WINGS.  Once BUTTERFLY BODY is attached to BUTTERFLY WINGS, sew 2-inch keyring to BUTTERFLY.  Weave in ends.  Trim end tail to form antenna.
