LIGHTNING MCQUEEN SLIPPERS



These slippers were made for the son of a co-worker.  This pattern is designed for someone that has extensive experience is following a pattern in "crochetese" and a graph at the same time.  The graph indicates color changes while doing the sides of the slippers.  The 95 on each side should outlined in white.

MATERIALS
Worsted wight yarn:  Red, orange, yellow, black, and white.
Crochet hook -- will depend on which size you want.
Tapestry needle

SOLE
Rd 1:    Ch 30, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 27 ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 27 ch, 2 sc in last ch.  (60)
Rd 2:    sc in next 28 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 28 sc, 3 sc in next sc.  (65)
Rd 3:    sc in next 29 sc, 2 sc in next 4 sc, sc in next 30 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc.  (71)

TO FINISH
Mark the second and third (sc2tog) of Rd 8 at toe of SIDES.  Count 19 st from marked sts in each direction (including marked st at tow when counting).  Mark the 19th st on each side.

Rd 1:    Starting in first sc of Rd 8, attach Red with slip st, ch 1, sc in each st until you get to marked st, holding wrong sides of SIDES and IINSTEP together, working through both thicknesses, sc in each sc around doubling up 10 along the way since there will be more rows on the INSTEP than between markers on SIDES only matching two sc of Rw 23 of INSTEP with marked toe sts of SIDES, sc in next 18 sc.

Rd 2:    sc in each sc until you reach the connecting sc, working in free loops of foundation ch of INSTEP and following chart above for color changes, sc in each ch, working in SIDES again, sc in next 18 sc, join wth slip st in first sc.  (41)

DO NOT FINISH OFF.
