#50 Diglett

With Diglett, the person making him can either use felt for the eyes with some small amounts of black.  I choose to sew the eyes because I have two daughters under the age of 3 and I did not want to take a chance of them coming off.  This was the smallest Pokemon that I have made.

Diglett was pretty easy to make due to the fact that there are only three pieces to it – the body, nose and the ground the body is sew onto.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weighted Yarn:  Tan and Gray
Small amount of pink yarn
Crochet Hook F
Fiberfill
Small piece of black felt
Yarn Needle

BODY:
With tan yarn:
Rd 1:         6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rd 2:         2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rd 3:         sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)
Rd 4:         sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)
Rd 5-16:    sc in each sc around (24)
F/O leaving a long tail.  Add stuffing needed to finish off shape.  Set aside until ground is done.

NOSE:
With pink, ch 5,
Rd 1:         sc in second ch from hook and in next 2 ch, 3 sc in last ch, working is free loops of beginning ch, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch (12)
Rd 2:         sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in last sc (14)
F/O leaving enough of a tail to sew nose to face.  Add stuffing need to finish off shape.  Sew to face of Diglett.  Weave in ends.

GROUND
With gray,
Rd 1:         6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rd 2:         2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rd 3:         sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)
Rd 4:         sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)
Rd 5:         Working through the sc of Round 16 of the Body and the sc of Round 4 of Ground, sc in each sc around (24)
Rd 6:         sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (32)
Rd 7:         ch 3, sc in next sc around for a wavy edge (sl st in last st for a neater finish if you want)
F/O.  Weave in ends.

Diglett and Pokemon are copyright Nintendo.

  1. I have a question about Rd 7. Are you supposed to repeat *ch 3, sc in next sc* in every sc around? Or just ch3 for the first sc? I tried ch3 and sc in each sc around and it did not turn out wavy and scrunched like in the picture, but moreso just has a bumpy edge.
