LINK

This is a pattern for one of my favorite video characters – Link from the game Zelda.  I must admit that for the longest time, I thought that Links’ name was Zelda.  It wasn’t until I finally beat the first version of Zelda that I was playing that I discovered that Zelda was the princess that you were trying to save.  I am also make up a pattern for Zelda.  She will be coming soon.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Buff, green, café latte, white, gold, golden yellow, blue, gray, red,
F crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
1 set of 10mm safety eyes
Piece of wooden dowel

ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With café latte, 5 sc in magic ring.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 3: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (8)
BEGINS TUFFING ARMS FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING ARMS FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Rd 5: sc in each sc around.  (6)  Change to white.
Rds 6-7: sc in each sc around.  (6)  Change to green after Rd 7.
Rds 8-10: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With café latte, ch 6, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 4 ch.  (12)
Rd 2: sc in next 4 sc, (sc2tog) 3 times, sc in next 2 sc.  (9)
Rd 3: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog) 3 times, sc in next sc.  (6)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 5: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)  Change to white.
Rds 6-7: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 8: sc in next 9 sc.  (8)
Finish off in first LEG.  Do not finish off in second LEG.  Stuff LEGS firmly.

BODY:
Rd 1: sc in next 8 sc on RIGHT LEG, sc in next 8 sc on LEFT LEG, slip st in first sc changing to green.  (16)
Rd 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (16)
Rd 3: Working in back loops only, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (20)
Rd 4: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (22)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Fold Rds 3 and 4 down.
Rd 5: Working through sc of Rd 3 and in both loops of Rd 2, attach green, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next 15 sc, slip st in first sc.  (16)
Rds 6-9: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (16)
Rd 10: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, holding next sc on BODY and first sc on ARM together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc on BODY, change to white, sc in next 2 sc, change to green, sc in next 2 sc, holding next sc on BODY and first sc on ARM together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc on BODY, slip st in first sc.

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 29, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

BELT:
Rw 1: With café latte, ch 21, sc in second ch from hook in each ch across.  (20)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Wrap BELT around waist and sew together.  Using gold, embroider belt buckle on BELT.

EYEBROWS AND MOUTH:
Embroider EYEBROWS and MOUTH on LINK.

HAIR:
Rd 1: With golden yellow, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around.  (30)
NOW WORKING IN ROWS.
Rw 7: slip st in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 16 sc, leave remaining sc unworked.  (17)

Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc.  (8)
Rws 7-8: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)
Rw 9: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, dc in next 2 sc, tr in next sc, ch 1, tr in next sc, dc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc.
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
BORDER:
Rd 1: Attach gray in side of Rw 9, ch 1, sc in next 9 Rws, 3 sc in free loop of foundation ch, sc in next 8 Rws, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sts, 3 sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail.

SHILED FRONT EMBROIDERY:
Using picture below, embroider details onto SHIELD FRONT.

STRAP:
Rw 1: With gray, ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew both ends to the SHIELD BACK.  Sew SHIELD FRONT and BACK together.

SWORD HANDLE:
Rw 1: With blue, ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (8)
Rws 2-3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across, ch 10, slip st in first sc.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew Rw 1 and Rw 4 of SWORD HANDLE together.

SWORD BLADE:
Rw 1: With gray, ch 10, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (9)
Rws 2-4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (9)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew Rw 1 and Rw 4 of SWORD BLADE together.  Insert piece of wooden dowel into SWORD HANDLE.  Slip SWORD BLADE over wooden dowel and sew to SWORD HANDLE.

SWORD CROSS BAR:
Rw 1: With blue, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Wrap around top of SWORD HANDLE and sew flat.  Using golden yellow, embroider jewel on both sides of SWORD CROSS BAR.

SWORD SHEATH:
Rw 1: With golden yellow, ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (8)  Change to blue.
Rws 2-3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)  Change to golden yellow.
Rws 4-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)  Change to blue.
Rws 6-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)  Change to golden yellow.
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew Rw 1 and Rw 8 together.  Sew bottom of SWORD SHEATH closed.  Whipstitch around top of SWORD SHEATH.

SWORD SHEATH STRAP:
Attach café latte in top of SWORD SHEATH, ch 21, slip st in bottom of SWORD SHEATH.  Weave in ends.  Slip SWORD SHEATH onto LINK.

  1. Love your Link and Zelda. Been playing the Legend of Zelda games since the 90's. Your creations are awesome. What I love the most is all the detail you made them with! I was wondering how tall the finished figure will be? Thank You
