This is my Pokemon-obsessed customer’s own design for his Mystic Ball. This
is the next in a series of custom PokeBalls for this customer. This is the pattern that I came up with to
make it come to reality.
MATERIALS:
Worst weight yarn: buff, light
blue, and yellow.F crochet hook
Tennis ball or Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
BALL:
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in
magic ring, slip st in first sc. (6)Rd 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc. (12)
Rd 3: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc. (18)
Rd 4: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc. (24)
Rd 5: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc changing to yellow. (30)
Rd 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to buff, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc. (36)
Rd 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, change to buff, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times, change to yellow, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 10 sc, change to buff, sc in next 21 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 11 sc, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 9: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 10: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 11: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 10 sc, change to buff, sc in next 21 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 11 sc, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 12: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, change to buff, sc in next 27 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 7 sc, slip st in first sc. (42)
Rd 13: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to buff, sc in next sc, sc2tog, (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog, slip st in first sc changing to buff. (36)
Rd 14: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc. (30)
IF INSERTING TENNIS BALL, WHILE HOLDING IN PLACE, CONTINUE TO CROCHET AROUND IT. YOU MAY NEED TO PULL YOUR FINISHED WORK TIGHTLY TO GET IT TO COVER TO COMPLETELY.
Rd 15: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc. (24)
Rd 16: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc. (18)
IF YOU ARE STUFFING THE GREAT BALL, THIS WOULD BE WHEN YOU WILL BE ADDING TO THE STUFFING. CONTINUE STUFFING TO ACHIEVE DESIRED FIRMNESS.
Rd 17: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around, slip st in first sc. (12)
Rd 18: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog around, slip st in first sc. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through sc of Rd 18, pull tightly, and secure. Weave in ends.
BOTTOM BUTTON POINT:
Rw 1: With yellow, ch 2, 2 sc
in second ch from hook. (2)Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in each sc across. (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew BOTTOM BUTTON POINT to BALL centered in front.
EYE BUTTON:
Rd 1: With light blue, ch 2,
4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch, slip st in first sc changing to yellow. (4)Rd 2: Ch 1, sc2tog. Finish off. Attach yellow in next sc, ch 1, sc2tog.
Rd 3: Ch 1, sc in side of Rd 2, 2 sc in next 2 sc of Rd 1, 3 sc in next sc of Rd 2, 2 sc in next 2 sc of Rd 1, 2 sc in next sc of Rd 2, slip st in first sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew EYE BUTTON to MYSTIC BALL over Rds 9 and 10.
CRESCENT MOONS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With light blue, ch 8,
slip st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch,
slip st in next ch. (7)Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew CRESCENT MOONS to BALL on either side of BOTTOM BUTTON POINT.
WING:
Rw 1: With light blue, ch 5,
sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch. (4)Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog. (3)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, leaving remaining sc unworked. (3)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, sc2tog. (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew WING to BALL above EYE BUTTON. Weave in ends.
SMALL CRESCENT MOONS AND
SPOTS:
Using light blue, embroider a SMALL CRESCENT MOON and a SPOT on each
side of WING.
