LITTLE TASKMASTER


This is rendering of the famed Taskmaster character from MARVEL comics and movies.  It is the continuing series of dolls depicting popular comics book characters.  I starting on comics characters as a respond that I was making characters that were for girls.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  White, navy blue, orange, and yellow.
D crochet hook
Yellow and black embroidery floss
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

DOLL:
BODY:
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc.  (9)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (12)
Rd 4: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Rds 5-8: sc in each sc around.  (15)
Rd 9: (sc2tog) 7 times, sc in next sc.  (8)
Rds 10-11: sc in each sc around.  (8)  Change to orange.
NOW WORKING IN JOINED ROUNDS
Rd 12: slip st in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, sc in next sc, change to navy blue, sc in same sc as last sc, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, join with slip st in first sc.  (12)
Rd 13: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, change to orange, sc in same sc as last sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next sc, change to navy blue, sc in same sc as last sc.  (17)
Rd 14: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to orange, sc in next 8 sc, change to navy blue, sc in next 8 sc.    (17)
Rd 15: Ch 1, turn; (sc2tog) twice, change to orange, sc2tog, change to navy blue, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 7 sc.  (12)
NOW WORKING IN UNJOINED ROUND.
Rds 16-18: sc in each sc around.  (12)  Change to white.
Rds 19-20: sc in each sc around.  (12)  Change to navy blue.
BEGIN STUFFING TASKMASTER DOLL AT THIS POINT AND CONTINUE TO STUFF AS YOU GO.
RIGHT LEG:
Rd 21: sc in next 3 sc, skip next 6 sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (6)
Rd 22-26: sc in each sc around.  (6)  Change to white.
Rd 27-28: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 29: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc.  (5)
Rd 30: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc.  (7)
Rd 31: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (9)
Rd 32: sc in each sc around.  (9)
Rd 33: Working in back loops only, (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail to close opening.  Whip stitch the opening closed.  Weave in ends.
LEFT LEG:
Rd 21: Attach red in first skipped sc with slip st, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 5 sc.  (6)
Rds 22-33: Same as RIGHT LEG.

ARMS (MAKE 2):
STUFF ARMS AS YOU GO.
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (5)
Rds 2-4: sc in each sc around.  (5)  Change to orange.
Rds 5-7: sc in each sc around.  (5)  Change to navy blue.
Rds 8-9: sc in each sc around.  (5)
Rd 10: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc.  (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew ARMS to BODY.

BELT:
Rw 1: With yellow, ch 29, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across.  (18)
Finish off leavng a long tail to sew ends of BELT together after wrapping around BODY.

CAPE:
Rw 1: With white, ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (16)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (18)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (22)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 14 sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (18)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 10 sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (14)
Rws 6-8: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (14)
Rws 9-16: Ch 3 (Counts as first dc here and throughout), turn; dc in each st across.  (14)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

HOOD:
Rw 1: Working in free loops of foundation ch of CAPE, attach white, sc same ch as attachment and next ch together, sc in next 12 ch, sc2tog.  (14)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 10 sc, sc2tog.  (12)
Rws 3-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (12)
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing top closed.  Fold hold in half.  Sew top together.

YELLOW BUTTONS AND CHAINS:
Using yellow, embroider gold button on left side of CAPE.  From left bottom corner of yellow button, ch 6, attach to right side of CAPE where right bottom corner of another yellow button on right side of CAPE.  Embroider yellow button on right side of CAPE.  Bring a loop in same corner as attachment of last chain, ch 8, attach to BELT.

Use embroidery floss to embroider eyes, nose, and mouth on doll.
