HIGHLAND COW

This was a request from a friend from church. He asked me to find or design a pattern for a highland cow and make him 6 of them. One of the highland cows is to go to lady that is fighting cancer. This is the pattern that I came up with. The colors that I used were chosen by my friend. This highland cow can be made using any color of and type of yarn.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn: burnt pumpkin, buff, ivory, and coffee.
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfill
Tapestry needle
1 set of 12 mm safety eyes

ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With coffee, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (24)
Rd 5: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around. (24)
Rds 6-7: sc in each sc around. (24) Change to burnt pumpkin after Rd 7.
Rds 8-10: sc in each sc around. (24)

Finish off. Weave in ends. For tuff on TAIL, fringe on pieces of coffee yarn over sc of Rd 1 of TAIL.

CLOVEN HOOVES:
Using coffee yarn, pass the needle through the center of the magic ring of the ARMS and LEGS, then out through the top. Repeat this process two to three times, pulling the yarn tightly with each pass. Secure the beginning and ending tails with a knot, then weave the ends inside the work.

Finish off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through sc of Rd 34, pull tightly and secure. You can either sew HEAD to BODY here or wait until the EARS, HORNS and HAIR are attached. Weave in ends.

INDENTING THE EYES:
Using some burnt pumpkin, indent the eyes by adding tension between the eyes and tying off in the bottom of the HEAD.
