TOD THE FOX -- STANDING

This is the pattern that I have designed for Copper the Hound from the Disney Animated Movie “The Fox and The Hound.”  The same customer that ordered Tod the Fox (sitting) and Copper the Hound (standing) has now ordered them in the opposite poses.  This is the pattern for Tod the Fox standing.  The pattern for Copper the Hound sitting will be coming soon.

MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn:  Carrot, coffee, white, baby pink, burgundy, and black.

D crochet hook

Polyester Fiberfil

Tapestry needle

1 pair of 12 mm safety eyes

1 safety nose

BODY:

Rd 1:      With carrot, 8 sc in magic ring.  (8)

Rd 2:      2 sc in each sc around.  (16)

Rd 3:      sc in next 4 sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (20)

Finish off leaving a long tail in burgundy INSIDE OF MOUTH.  Sew INSIDE OF MOUTH together.  Weave in ends.

LOWER JAW:

Rd 1:      With white, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 2 ch.  (7)

Rd 2:      Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc.  (10)

Rd 3:      Ch 1, turn; holding next sc on LOWER JAW and first sc on baby pink INSIDE OF MOUTH together and working through both thicknesses, sc in each sc around.  (10)

Finish off.  Weave in ends.

UPPER MUZZLE:

Rd 1:      With white, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 3 ch.  (9)

Rd 2:      Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (12)

Rd 3:      Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around.  (12)

Rd 1:      Attach white in foundation ch of LOWER JAW, ch 1, sc in same ch as attachment, sc in next 3 Rds, working in the side of Rds of UPPER MUZZLE, sc in next 3 Rws, sc2tog, sc in foundation ch of UPPER MUZZLE, sc2tog, sc in next 3 Rds, working in the side of Rds of LOWER JAW, sc in next 3 Rds.  (16)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  INSERT SAFETY NOSE.  Stuff MUZZLE firmly.  Sew MUZZLE to BODY.  Weave in ends.

FOREHEAD HAIR:

Fringe on pieces of carrot to forehead of BODY. 

CHEST HAIR:

Fringe on pieces of white to chest of BODY.

SIDEBURNS (MAKE 2):

Rd 1:      With carrot, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
