SOUL BALL

This is my Pokemon-obsessed customer’s own design for his Soul Ball.  This continues the second series of custom PokeBalls for this customer.  This is the pattern that I came up with to make it come to reality.

MATERIALS:
Worst weight yarn:  Lemon, lavender, baby pink, and light blue.
F crochet hook
Tennis ball or Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle

BALL:
Rd 1:      With lemon, 6 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc.  (6)
Rd 2:      Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (12)
Rd 3:      Ch 1, turn; (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (18)
Rd 4:      Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (24)
Rd 5:      Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (30)
Rd 6:      Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc changing to lavender.  (36)
Rd 7:      Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to lemon, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc) twice, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, change to lavender, sc in next sc, slip st in first sc.  (42)
Rd 8:      Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to lemon, sc in next 36 sc, change to lavender, sc in next 3 sc, slip st in first sc.  (42)
Rds 9-10:              Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (42)
Rd 11:    Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to lemon, sc in next 36 sc, change to lavender, sc in next 3 sc, slip st in first sc.  (42)
Rd 12:    Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to lemon, sc in next 40 sc, change to lavender, sc in next sc, slip st in first sc changing to lemon.  (42)
Rd 13:    Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (36)
Rd 14:    (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around.  (30)
IF INSERTING TENNIS BALL, WHILE HOLDING IN PLACE, CONTINUE TO CROCHET AROUND IT.  YOU MAY NEED TO PULL YOUR FINISHED WORK TIGHTLY TO GET IT TO COVER TO COMPLETELY.
Rd 15:    (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 16:    (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
IF YOU ARE STUFFING THE SOUL BALL, THIS WOULD BE WHEN YOU WILL BE ADDING TO THE STUFFING.  CONTINUE STUFFING TO ACHIEVE DESIRED FIRMNESS.
Rd 17:    (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 18:    sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 18, pull tightly, and secure.  Weave in ends.

RIBBON:
Rw 1:     With light blue, ch 21, sc in second ch from hook, sc2tog, sc in next 14 ch, sc2tog, sc in next ch.  (18)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew RIBBON to SOUL BALL with center where BUTTON will be placed so that the center is covered up by the BUTTON.

BUTTON:
Rd 1:      With baby pink, ch 2, (3 sc, dc) in second ch from hook working around ch, slip st in first sc changing to lavender.  (4)
Rd 2:      Ch 1, 2 sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next dc, slip st in first sc.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew BUTTON to SOUL BALL over center of RIBBON.  Weave in ends.

EYE:
Using light blue and baby pink, embroider EYE on upper section of SOUL BALL above BUTTON.

SPOTS:
Using light blue, embroider 2 spots in upper section of SOUL BALL on each side of EYE.
