AMMY DAGGERBACKED HORNRIDGES

This continues a series of dragon designed by a customer of mine on Etsy. We have become really good friends on Instagram. Ammy is a hatchling Daggerbacked Hornridges Dragon. To make her smaller, I had to make some major alternations to my previous Daggerbacked Hornridges Dragon pattern. This was not an easy task. Fortunately, I look to shrink and enlarge things.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: medium purple, burgundy, off white sparkle, black, amethyst, pale pink, and white.
C crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
3 chenille stems
Floral wire

BODY:
Rd 1: With medium purple, 9 sc in magic ring. (9)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (18)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (24)
Rds 4-10: sc in each sc around. (24)
Rd 11: sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next sc) twice, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc. (21)

Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; slip st in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (3)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew TAIL WINGS to BODY. Weave in ends.

FRONT LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With burgundy, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)

Rd 5: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc. (8)

BEGIN STUFFING FRONT LEGS FIRMLY. CONTINUE STUFFING FIRMLY AT BOTTOM AND MEDUIM LIGHT AT TOP SO IT CAN BE FLATTENED
Rd 10: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (10) Change to medium purple.
Rd 11: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc. (12)

Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. (7)
Rw 3: Ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, skip next sc, slip st in next 2 sc, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, skip next sc, slip st in next 2 sc, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, slip st in next sc.
Finish off. Sew HEAD FIN to HEAD. Weave in ends.

FOREHEAD FIN 1:
Rw 1: With white, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (3)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew FOREHEAD FIN 1 to HEAD. Weave in ends.

FOREHEAD FIN 2:
Rw 1: With white, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook, sc2tog, hdc in next ch. (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew FOREHEAD FIN 2 to HEAD. Weave in ends.

EYES, MOUTH, NOSTRILS, TEETH AND EYEBROWS:
Using white and amethyst, embroider EYES on HEAD. Using black, embroider MOUTH and NOSTRILS on HEAD. Using white, embroider TEETH on HEAD. Using medium purple, surface chain twice above each eye to create EYEBROWS.

HORNS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 7, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (6)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Fold HORNS in half and sew together. Sew HORNS to HEAD. Weave in ends.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With pale pink, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2) Change to burgundy.
Rw 2: Working in the side of Rw 1, ch 1, sc in the side of Rw 1, change to medium purple, 2 sc in the side of foundation ch.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Fold over medium purple sc of Rw 2 to cover burgundy sc of Rw 2. Sew EARS to HEAD. Weave in ends.

CHIN HORNS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew CHIN HORNS to HEAD. Weave in ends.

SPINE FIN:
Rw 1: With white, ch 16, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (15)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; skip next sc, (2 sc in next sc, slip st in next sc) 7 times.
Finish off. Sew SPINE FIN to BODY. Weave in ends. Using burgundy, embroider spots on SPINE FIN.

WING BODY (MAKE 2):

Rw 1: With off white sparkle, ch 15, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 11 ch, change to medium purple, sc in next 2 ch. (14)
