BABY YODA BACKPACK

My daughter saw a Baby Yoda Backpack at Walmart. She asked if I could make her something similar. I told her that I could. We took a few reference pictures of the backpack. This is the pattern that I came up with for my version of the Baby Yoda Backpack. This pattern is made holding 2 strands of yarn together.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Frosty green, medium thyme, off white, baby pink, black, and white.
I crochet hook
Tapestry needle
2 22-inch zipper
Sewing thread matching zipper color
Sewing needle
2 1” Belting/Strapping (each cut in half)
2 Strap adjusters

BOTTOM:
Rw 1: With off white, ch 31, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (30)
Rws 2-10: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (30)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

BOTTOM SIDES:
Rd 1: Attach off white in first sc of BOTTOM with slip st, ch 28, slip st in last sc of BOTTOM, ch 1, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 10 Rws, working in free loops of foundation ch of BOTTOM, sc in next 30 ch, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 10 Rws, working over first slip st, sc in next slip st, sc in next 28 ch, working over next slip st, sc in next slip st, slip st in next sc. (80)
Rds 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc. (80)
Finish off. Weave in ends. Slip one end of a piece of strapping at each end of opening and sew closed.

FRONT AND BACKJ PANEL (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With frosty green, ch 31, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (30)
Rws 2-23: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (30)
Rw 24: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 26 sc, sc2tog. (28)
Rw 25: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 24 sc, sc2tog. (26)
Rw 26: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 22 sc, sc2tog. (24)
Rw 27: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 20 sc, sc2tog. (22)
Rw 28: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 18 sc, sc2tog. (20)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

BACK STRAP OPENING:
Attach frosty green in first sc of Rw 28 of BACK with slip st, ch 18, slip st in last sc of Rw 28 of BACK. Finish off.

SIDE OF FRONT:
Rw 1: Attach frosty green in the side of Rw 1, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 28 Rws, sc in next 20 sc of Rw, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 28 Rws. (76)
Rws 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (76)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

HANDLE:
Rw 1: With frosty green, ch 21, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (20)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (20)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

SIDE OF BACK:
Rw 1; Attach frosty green in the side of Rw 1, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 28 Rws, working over slip st of BACK STRAP OPENING, sc over next slip st, sc in next 18 ch, sc over next slip st, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 28 Rws. (76)
Rws 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (76)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Slip one end of a piece of strapping at each end of BACK STRAP OPENING with each end of HANDLE between strapping and sew closed. Sew zipper to each side. Sew SIDES together. Weave in ends.

FRONT POCKET:
Rw 1: With frosty green, ch 29, sc in second ch from hook and in each across. (28)
Rws 2-18: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (28)
Rw 19: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 24 sc, sc2tog. (26)
Rw 20: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 22 sc, sc2tog. (24)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

EYES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, 8 sc in magic ring. (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew EYES to FRONT POCKET. Using white, embroider highlights on EYES. Weave in ends.

FACE MARKINGS:
Using medium thyme, embroider FACE MARKINGS on FRONT POCKET.

HANDS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With frosty green, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (4)
Rw 2: Ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, skip next sc, slip st in next sc, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook hdc in next ch, slip st in next sc, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, slip st in next sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew HANDS to FRONT POCKET. Using medium thyme, embroider finger divides on HANDS. Weave in ends.

POCKET SIDES:
Rw 1: Attach frosty green in the side of Rw 1 of POCKET, ch 1, sc together same Rw as attachment and next Rw, sc in next 18 Rws, sc in next 24 sc of Rw 18 of POCKET, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 18 Rws, sc2tog. (62)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 10 sc, ch 38, skip next 38 sc, sc in next sc, sc2tog.
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc in next 38 ch, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog. (
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew zipper to opening made by ch-10. Sew FRONT POCKET to FRONT PANEL. Weave in ends.

EARS (MAKE 2):
INNER EARS (MAKE 2):

Rw 1: With baby pink, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook. (1)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc. (1)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc. (2)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (2)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. (3)
Rws 6-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (3)
Finish off. Weave in ends.
OUTER EARS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With frosty green, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook. (1)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc. (1)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc. (2)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (2)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. (3)
Rws 6-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (3)
Rd 8: Holding INNER EARS and OUTER EARS together and working through both thicknesses, ch 1, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 7 Rws, 3 sc in free loop of foundation ch, working in the side of Rws, sc in next 7 Rws, working in sc of Rw 7, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew EARS to FRONT POCKET SIDES. Weave in ends.

BOTTOM ATTACHMENT:
Matching sts of BOTTOM of BABY YODA BACKPACK and sts of TOP HALF of BABY YODA BACKPACK together, sew together. Weave in ends.

STRAPS:
Attach strap adjuster to each strap attached to BOTTOM. Feed straps attached to BACK through strap adjusters.
