CAPTAIN AMERICA (UPDATED)

This is an update to my design of a doll of Captain America. This pattern gives the body of Captain America a seamless look to it. This update in response to having a customer on Etsy make a purchase. Of course, I have been going through and updating most of my dolls since I first made them.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Red, blue, white, black, gray, and buff.
E crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

RIGHT ARM:
Rd 1: With red, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (9)
Rds 3-4: sc in each sc around.
Rd 5: 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc. (12)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around. (12)
Rd 7: (sc3tog) twice, sc in next 6 sc. (8)
Rd 8: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around. (6)
Rd 9: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (8)
BEGIN STUFFING RIGHT ARM FIRMLY. CONTINUE STUFFING RIGHT ARM FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.

Finish off with a long tail. Add more stuffing to firmly achieve desired shape. Weave tail through sc of Rd 44, pull tightly, and secure. Weave in ends.

EYES AND MOUTH:
Embroider EYES and MOUTH on face of BODY.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With buff, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew EARS to head of BODY. Weave in ends.

NOSE:
Rw 1: With buff, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog. (1)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Bunch Rw 1 together and sew NOSE to head of BODY. Weave in ends.

STAR:
Embroider the STAR in center of chest of BODY.

HELMET:
Rd 1: With blue, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (24)
Rds 5-8: sc in each sc around. (24)
Rw 9: Slip st in next sc, ch 1, turn, sc in next 10 sc, slip st in next sc.
Rw 10: Ch 1, turn; skip slip st, sc in next 10 sc, ch 2, skip next 2 sc on Rd 8, 2 hdc in next sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc, 2 hdc in next sc, ch 2, skip next 2 sc, slip st in first sc.
Rw 11: Ch 1, sc in next 10 sc. (10)
Rw 12: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 10 sc, ch 10 (Chin strap). (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Place HELMET on head making sure that EYES are inside ch-3 spaces and EARS are in ch-2 spaces. Wrap chin strap under shin of head. Sew to first sc of Rw 12. Weave in ends.

A ON HELMET:
Embroider an “A” on center forehead of HELMET.

HELMET WINGS:
With gray, embroider HELMET WINGS on sides of HELMET.

SHIELD:
Rd 1: With white, 5 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc. (5)
Rd 2: (Ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, slip st in next sc of Rd 1) 5 times.
Finish off.
Rd 3: Attach blue in any sc of point, ch 1, sc in same sc, hdc in next sc, hdc in foundation free loop of next point, sc in next ch, (sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, hdc in foundation free loop of next point, sc in next ch) 4 times, slip st in next sc.
Finish off.
Rd 4: Attach red in any sc, ch 1, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (25)
Rd 5: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in next sc. (30)
Finish off.
Rd 6: Attach white in any sc, ch 1, (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (36)
