VOLDEMORT'S WAND

This is a pattern for Voldemort’s wand from the Harry Potter movies.  This has been a project that I have been putting off for months now.  I finally broke down and made it because we are having a Harry Potter day at work.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn: White, taupe, and buff.
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfill
Wooden dowel
Tapestry needle

HANDLE:
Rd 1: With white, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 3: Working in front loops only, 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 4: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rds 5-6: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 7: (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around.  (15)
Rd 8: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rds 9-10: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 11: 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 10 sc.  (16)
Rd 12: sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 13: sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 12 sc.  (15)
Rd 14: sc in next sc, sc2tog, sc in next 12 sc.  (14)
Rd 15: sc in next sc, sc2tog, sc in next 11 sc.  (13)
Rd 16: sc2tog, sc in next 11 sc.  (12)
Rds 17-21: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 22: Working in front loops only, (sc, ch 1) in each sc around.
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Stuff HANDLE firmly around wooden dowel.

BOTTOM HANDLE CLAW:
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Rd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc.  (6)
Rd 4: sc2tog, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog.  (6)
Rds 5-6: sc in next 2 sc, slip st in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc.  (6)
Rd 7: hdc in next 2 sc, slip st in next 2 sc, hdc in next 2 sc.  (6)
Rd 8: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff BOTTOM HANDLE CLAW firmly.  Sew BOTTOM HANDLE CLAW to HANDLE.

TOP HANDLE SPIKE:
Rw 1: With white, ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook.  (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next 2 sc.  (4)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (6)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (8)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (8)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog.  (6)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog.  (4)
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc2tog.  (2)
Rw 9: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog.  (1)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Fold TOP HANDLE SPIKE in half.  Sew TOP HANDLE SPIKE to HANDLE.

HANDLE EDGING:
Rd 1: Working in sc and ch-1 spaces of Rd 22, attach taupe in sc next of where we sewed TOP HANDLE SPIKE on, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next ch-1 space, (sc in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space) 11 times, slip st in first sc, working in both thicknesses of TOP HANDLE SPIKE, sc in next 3 Rws, 2 sc in next Rw.
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

WAND:
Rd 1: Working in back loops of Rd 22 of HANDLE, attach buff, sc in each sc around.  (12)
CONTINUE STUFFING WAND AROUND WOODEN DOWEL AS YOU GO ALONG
Rd 2: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (8)
Rds 3-12: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 13: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Rds 14-33: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 34: sc2tog around.  (3)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 34, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.
