CORALINE'S CAT

This is a pattern for Coraline’s companion, her cat.  This was an easy pattern to come up with.  I have also developed a pattern for Coraline.  The pattern Coraline, if not posted at the same time, will be coming soon.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Black, aqua, and baby pink.
D crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
Black chenille stem

BODY:
Rd 1: With black, 9 sc in magic ring.  (9)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rds 3-5: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 6: sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc.  (19)
Rds 7-9: sc in each sc around.  (19)
Rd 10: sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 9 sc.  (20)
Rds 11-12: sc in each sc around.  (20)
Rd 13: sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc.  (18)
Rd 14: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc) 4 times.  (14)
BEGIN STUFFING BODY FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING BODY FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 15: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc.  (10)
Rd 16: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc) twice.  (8)
Rd 17: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 18: 2 sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 19: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (20)
Rd 20: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (24)
Rd 21; sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (28)
Rd 22: sc in next 5 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 10 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 5 sc.  (24)
Rd 23: sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc.  (20)
Rd 24: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (16)
Rd 25: sc2tog around.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 25, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

EYES AND NOSE:
Using aqua and black, embroider EYES on head of BODY of CORALINE’S CAT.  Using baby pink, embroider NOSE on head of BODY of CORALINE’S CAT.

WHISKERS:
Fringe on 2 pieces of black on each side of head below EYES.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Embroider baby pink inner ear on EARS.  Sew EARS to BODY.

FRONT LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, 7 sc in magic ring.  (7)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (14)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (14)
Rd 4: sc in next 5 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 5 sc.  (12)
Rd 5: sc in next 3 sc, (sc2tog) 3 times, sc in next 3 sc.  (9)
BEGIN STUFFING FRONT LEGS FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING FRONT LEGS FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rds 6-13: sc in each sc around.  (9)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew FRONT LEGS to BODY.

HIND LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (14)
Rds 4-5: sc in each sc around.  (14)
Rd 6: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
STUFF UPPER PORTION OF HIND LEGS MODERATELY.
Rd 7: sc2tog around.  (6)
Rd 8: slip st in next sc, ch 5, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, working in sc of Rd 7, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, working in free loops of ch-5, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in next ch.  (18)
Rds 9-10: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Flatten lower portion of HIND LEGS.  Match sc and sew closed stuffing firmly as you close.  Sew HIND LEGS to BODY.

TAIL:
Rw 1: With black, ch 21, working over chenille stem, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (20)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew TAIL to BODY.
