THE DETECTIVE ESCAPE THE NIGHT

This is an adaptation of my male doll pattern to look like “The Detective” from the hit YouTube Red (YouTube Premium) series “Escape the Night” Season 3.  He is portrayed by Matthew “MatPat” Patrick in the show.  I have been told by the co-worker that requested him that there will be more to come.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  buff, coffee, black, white, and golden yellow
E Crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
Floral wire
Electrical tape
Glue

ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With buff, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)
Rds 3-4: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 5: 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc.  (12)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 7: (sc3tog) twice, sc in next 6 sc.  (8)
Rd 8: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Rd 9: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)
BEGIN STUFFING ARMS FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING ARMS FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rds 10-18: sc in each sc around.  (8)  Change to white.
Rd 19: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (10)
Rds 20-23: sc in each sc around.  (10)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, 8 sc in a magic ring.  (8)
Rds 2-4: sc in each sc around.  (8)
NOW WORKING IN ROWS.
Rw 5: sc in next 4 sc leaving remaining sc of Rd 4 unworked.  (4)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc.  (4)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog twice.  (2)
NOW WORKING IN RDS AGAIN.
Rd 8: Ch 1, sc in the side of Rows 5-7, slip st in unworked sc on Rd 4, sc in the side of Rows 5-7, sc in top of sc of Row 7.  (12)
Rd 9: (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around.  (10)
Rd 10: sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog.  (8)
BEGIN STUFFING THE LEGS FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING AS YOU GO.
Rds 11-13: sc in each sc around.  (8)

Rd 1: Working in front loops of Rd 28 of BODY, skip next 10 sc, attach white in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next 11 sc.  (12)
Rd 2: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (16)
Rd 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around.  (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

EARS (MAKE 2)
Rw 1:   Ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch.  (2)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew EARS to HEAD.

NOSE
Rw 1:   Ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch.  (2)
Rw 2:   Ch 1, turn; sc2tog.  (1)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew NOSE to HEAD bunching Row 1 together.

EYES, EYEBROWS, AND MOUTH:
Embroider EYES, EYEBROWS, and MOUTH on face of DOLL.

HAIR:
Fringe coffee yarn as hair on DOLL.  Style hair as desired.

PANTS:
Rw 1: With black, ch 33, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (32)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (32)  Change to coffee.
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (32)  Change to black.
Rws 4-11: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (32)
Rw 12: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across, slip st in first sc.  (32)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

RIGHT PANT LEG:
Rd 1: With right side facing, skip next 8 sc, attach black in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next 7 sc, skip next 16 sc, sc in next 8 sc.  (16)
Rws 2-18: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around.  (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

LEFT PANTS LEG:
Rw 1: With right side facing, working in skipped sc, skip next 8 sc, attach black in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next 7 sc, working in skipped sc, sc in next 8 sc.  (16)
Rws 2-18: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around.  (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail.   Place PANTS on DOLL and sew PANTS LEG seams and back seam closed.

SHOES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With coffee, ch 6, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 4 ch.  (12)
Rd 2: (3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc) around.  (16)
Rd 3: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.   (16)
Rds 4-5: sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 6: slip st in next 3 sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as last slip st, sc in next 3 sc, (sc2tog) 4 time, sc in next 4 sc.  (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Place SHOES on LEGS and tack stitch in a few places.

TIE:
Rw 1: With golden yellow, ch 51, slip st in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 8 ch, slip st in next 39 ch.  (50)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Wrap TIE around neck of DOLL.  Tie knot.  Tack stitch down.  Tack stitch corners of SHIRT COLLAR down.

JACKET:
Rw 1: With navy blue, ch 35, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (34)
Rws 2-16: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (34)
Rw 17: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, slip st in next 5 sc, sc in next 14 sc, slip st in next 5 sc, sc in next 5 sc.
Rw 18: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, ch 5, skip next 5 slip sts (ARMHOLD MADE), dc in next 14 sc, ch 5, skip next 5 slip sts (ARMHOLE MADE), sc in next 5 sc.
Rw 19: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc and ch across.  (34)
Rw 20: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (34)
Rw 21: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog.  (30)

SLEEVES:
Rd 1: Attach golden yellow in center slip st of underarm, ch 1, sc in same as attachment, sc 14 more times around ARMHOLE, slip st in first sc.  (15)
Rds 2-16: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (15)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Repeat in the second ARMHOLE.

GLASSES:
Use floral wire to create GLASSES.  Wrap frames of GLASSES with electrical tape.  Glue GLASSES to HEAD.
