FULL-SIZED SOCCER BALL

FULL-SIZED SOCCER BALL
This is a simple pattern for a full-sized soccer ball.  The colors, though traditional, was selected by my co-worker that had requested me to make it.  I also made one in light blue and navy blue for him because he is a North Carolina Tar Heels fan.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: white and black
G crochet hook
Tennis ball or Polyester Fiberfill
Tapestry needle

PENTAGON (MAKE 12):
Rd 1: With black, 5 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc.  (5)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 3 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (15)
Rd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (25)
Rd 4: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (35)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

HEXAGON (MAKE 20):
Rd 1: With white, 6 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc.  (6)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 3 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.  (18)
Rd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (30)
Rd 4: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (42)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

ASSEMBLY:
Using the graph above as a guide, sew the hexagons and pentagons together.  Stuff soccer ball firmly before closing
