BUTTERFLY OF PARADISE

This is the next in a series of characters that I am making for a customer that come from the various Kirby Games. BUTTERFLY OF PARADISE is a seemingly innocuous butterfly seen fluttering in the background of Planet Popstar. As the heroes carry out their duty, this “butterfly of paradise” absorbs the essence and powers of the fallen warriors, enabling them to shape-shift into a formidable knightly form known as Morpho Knight.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: café latte, white, yellow, black, golden yellow, and flame
B crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfill
Tapestry needle
Pin back (Optional)

BODY:
Rd 1: With café latte, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (4)
Rds 2-10: sc in each sc around. (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Stuff BODY firmly. Weave in ends.

ANTENNA:
Fringe on a piece of black yarn.

WINGS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With flame, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (4)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; (sc, change to gold, sc) in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, (sc, change to flame, sc) in next sc. (6)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to gold, sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next 4 sc. (6) Change to white.
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to gold, sc in next sc, change to flame, sc in next sc. (6)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to white, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (6)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to flame, sc2tog. (5)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to white, sc in next 3 sc. (5)
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to flame, 2 sc in next sc. (6)
Rw 9: Ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook, change to gold, sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next 2 sc, change to white, sc in next 3 sc. (8)
Rw 10: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 2 sc, change to gold, sc in next sc, change to flame, 2 sc in next sc. (9)
