This is the next collaboration between my crochet talent and my wife’s painting talent. She painted the pumpkin and glued on the leaves and bow. I crocheted the scarecrow.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Off white, carrot, café latte, coffee, red, yellow, and black.
D crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Wooden pumpkin
Orange and black acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Thankful stencil
6 fall leaves
Bow
Glue
PUMPKIN:
Paint wooden pumpkin orange. Use stencil to paint on THANKFUL. Glue leaves and bow on pumpkin. Use carrot, café latte, and off white, create hanger.
SCARECROW:
BODY:
Rw 1: With café latte, ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (16)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (16)
Rws 3-10: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to carrot, sc in next 8 sc, change to café latte, sc in next 4 sc. (16)
Finish off. Weave in ends.
HANDS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With off white, ch 4, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch. (5)
Rws 2-4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (5)
Rw 5: Working in the side of Rws, ch 2, dc in next Rw, (dc, slip st) in next Rw.
Finish off. Weave in ends.
ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With yellow, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2)
Rws 2-5: Ch 3, sc in second ch from hook and in next ch. (2) Change to carrot after Rw 5.
Rw 6: Ch 1, working in the side of Rw 1-5, holding next Rw and first sc on Rw 4 of HANDS together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 5 Rws. (5)
Rws 7-18: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (5)
Rw 19: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew ARMS to BODY. Weave in ends.
HEAD:
Rd 1: With off white, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (18)

EYES, NOSE, CHEEKS, AND MOUTH:
Using black, embroider the eyes and mouth on HEAD. Using red, embroider the cheeks on HEAD. Using carrot, embroider the nose on HEAD. Glue HEAD to BODY.
HAIR:
Fringe pieces of yellow on HEAD as HAIR.
HAT:
Rw 1: With black, ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (16)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (16)
Rw 3: slip st in next 3 sc, slip st in next sc changing to red, ch 1, sc in same sc as last slip st, sc in next 9 sc. (10) Change to black.
Rws 4-8: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (10)
