PIPLUP

Here is another Pokemon from the VERY long “To Do” list that my daughter has given me.  Piplup also continue a trend that seems to be forming for me where I make the basic form of a Pokemon Starter evolution and the final evolution form.  Hopefully, at some point, I will make Prinplup.  This pattern includes the color list for both Piplup and Shiny Piplup.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Shiny colors in parenthesis):  Blue (teal), light blue (aqua), white, black, and golden yellow.
E crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Yarn Needle
Floral wire

BODY:
Rd 1: With blue, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 6: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)
Rds 7-13: sc in each sc around.  (36)
Rd 14: (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) around.  (30)
Rd 15: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 16: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)  Change to light blue.
BEGIN STUFFING BODY FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING BODY FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 17: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 18: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rds 19-27: sc in each sc around.  (30)
Rd 28: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 29: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 30: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 31: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 31, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

FOREHEAD PATCH:
Rw 1: With light blue, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (4)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (4)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (6)
Rw 4: Ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, skip next sc, slip st in next sc, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, skip next 2 sc, slip st in next sc, ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, slip st in next sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew FOREHEAD PATCH to head of BODY.

EYE PATCHES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 4, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch.  (8)
Rd 2: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around.  (12)
Rd 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around.  (16)
Finish off first EYE PATCH.
Rw 1: Ch 3, sc in first sc on FIRST EYE PATCH, sc in next 3 sc.
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, sc in next 3 ch, sc in next 4 sc on SECOND EYE PATCH.  (11)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog.  (9)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

EYES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black, ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, 2 sc in next ch.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew EYES to EYE PATCHES.  Using white, embroider highlights on EYES.  Sew EYE PATCHES to BODY overlapping the edge of the FOREHEAD PATCH.

BEAK:
Rd 1: With golden yellow, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (9)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (9)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew BEAK to head of BODY stuffing before closing.

CAPE:
Rw 1: With blue, ch 13, (slip st, hdc) in second ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch, (hdc, slip st) in next ch, (slip st, hdc) in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, (hdc, slip st) in next ch, (slip st, ch 1, 2 sc) in next ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch.  (22)
Rw 2: Ch 2, turn; dc in next 3 sc, 2 dc in next sc, dc in next 2 sc, 2 dc in next sc, dc in next 3 sc, leaving remaining sts unworked.  (12)
Rws 3-4: Ch 2, turn; dc in each dc across.  (12)
Rw 5: Ch 2, turn; dc2tog, dc in next 8 dc, dc2tog.  (10)
Rw 6: Ch 2, turn; dc2tog, dc in next 6 dc, dc2tog.  (8)
Rw 7: ch 1, turn; dc2tog, dc in next 4 dc, dc2tog.  (6)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
CAPE EDGING:
Rd 1: Attach blue in side of foundation ch, ch 1, sc in side of Rw 1 of CAPE, 2 sc in side of next 6 Rws, sc in next 6 sc of Rw 7 of CAPE, 2 sc in next 6 Rws, sc in next Rw, working in unworked sc of Rw 1, slip st in next slip st, sc in next hdc, (hdc, dc) in next dc, (dc, hdc) in next dc, sc in next hdc, slip st in next 2 slip st, sc in next hdc, (hdc, dc) in next dc, (dc, hdc) in next dc, sc in next hdc, slip st in next slip st.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Wrap CAPE around BODY and sew together.

LARGE TAIL PIECE:
Rd 1: With blue, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew LARGE TAIL PIECE to CAPE.

SMALL TAIL PIECE:
Rd 1: With blue, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew SMALL TAIL PIECE to CAPE above LARGE TAIL PIECE.

WINGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With light blue, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook.  (4)
Rd 2: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (9)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (12)
Rds 5-6: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 7: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (8)
Rds 8-10: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew WINGS to BODY.

FEET (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With golden yellow, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rds 3-6: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 7: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff FEET lightly.  Sew FEET on BODY.

WHITE SPOTS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (5)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew WHITE POSTS to BODY.
