HORSEA

This is the Pokemon on the VERY LONG “To Do” list that my daughter gave me at Christmas time.  Horsea reminds her of little sea horse.  This pattern includes the color list for both Horsea and Shiny Horsea.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Shiny color substitute in parenthesis):  Blue (Aqua), off white (buff), light blue (aqua), black, white, and red.
B and E crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Yarn Needle

BODY:
Rd 1: With blue, 5 sc in magic ring.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Rds 4-16: sc in each sc around.  (15)
Rd 17: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 18: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 19: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 20: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)
Rd 21: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (42)
Rds 22-28: sc in each sc around.  (42)
Rd 29: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (36)
Rd 30: sc in each sc around.  (36)

ROLL UP FIRST 16 RDS TO FORM TAIL AND SECURE.  BEGIN STUFING BODY FIRMLY.  CONTINUE ADDING STUFFING AS YOU GO ALONG.

Rd 34: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 35: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 58, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

BELLY:
Rw 1: With off white, ch 6, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (5)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (7)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (9)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (11)
Rws 5-12: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (11)
Rw 13: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog.  (10)
Rw 14: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, sc2tog.  (9)
Rw 15: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog.  (8)
Rw 16: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog.  (7)
Rw 17: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog.  (6)
Rw 18: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog.  (5)
Rw 19: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (5)
Rd 20: Ch 1, sc evenly around outside edge of BELLY, slip st in first sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Using light blue and using picture as reference, embroider lines on BELLY.    Sew BELLY to BODY.

WHISKERS (MAKE 12):
Rw 1: With blue, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 5 ch.  (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew 2 WHISKERS together making a total of 6 WHISKERS.  Sew WHISKERS to BODY.

NOSE:
Rd 1: With black, 6 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc changing to blue.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rds 4-9: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 10: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)
Rd 11: sc in each sc around.  (15)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff NOSE firmly.  Sew NOSE to BODY.

FINS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With off white, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 5 ch.  (10)
Rw 2: Ch 2, turn; dc in next 5 dc, hdc in next 3 hdc, sc in next 2 sc.  (10)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next 3 hdc, dc in next 5 dc.  (10)
Rw 4: Ch 2, turn; dc in next 5 dc, hdc in next 3 hdc, sc in next 2 sc.  (10)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next 3 hdc, dc in next 5 dc.  (10)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; dc in next 5 dc, hdc in next 3 hdc, sc in next 2 sc.  (10)
Rd 7: Holding FINS together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 9 sc, 3 sc in next sc, working in side of Rws, sc in side of final dc of Rw 6, 2 sc in side of next 5 Rws, working in free loops of foundation ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 9 ch.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew FINS to BODY.

EYES (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With black and B hook, ch 3, 2 sc in second ch from hook, 4 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, 2 sc in next ch, slip st in first sc changing to red.  (8)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc.  (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail.
Rd 3: Skip next 11 sc, attach white in next sc, with slip st, ch 1, sc in next 6 sc, slip st in next sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew EYES to BODY.
