CHIHUAHUA SWEATER


This is a pattern for a sweater designed to fit a Chihuahua.  This was a request by a co-worker of mine.  I used camouflage yarn because that is what was requested.  It can be made in any color.  It can also be made to show your team support by making it in your favorite team colors and using aida cloth to cross-stitch your favorite team’s logo that can be found also on this blog.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: any color
H crochet hook
Tapestry needle

NECK CUFF:
Rw 1: Ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in each sc across.  (8)
Rws 2-34: working in back loops only, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.  (8)
Rw 35: Holding Row 34 and free loops of foundation ch together and working through both thicknesses, sc in each sc across.  (8)
NOW WORKING IN JOINED ROUNDS.
Rd 36: Ch 1, sc in side of each row of NECK CUFF, slip in first sc.  (35)
Rds 37-38: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, join.  (35)

BOTTOM OF SWEATER:
Rw 39: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 13 sc.  (13)
Rws 40-50: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (13)
Finish off.

BACK CUFF:
Rws 1-25: Follow instructions for Rws 1-25 of NECK CUFF.  Finish off.

TOP OF SWEATER:
Rw 39: Skip 1 sc, attach yarn, ch 1, sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next 3 sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) across.  (24)
Rw 40: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 8 sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc) across.  (26)
Rws 41-50: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (26)
NOW WORKING IN JOINED ROUNDS.
Rd 51: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 26 sc, ch 2, sc in next 13 sc of BOTTOM OF SWEATER, ch 2, slip st in first sc.
Rd 52: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc and ch around, join.  (43)
Rds 53-56: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc around, join.  (43)
NOW WORKING IN ROWS.
Rw 57: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 26 sc.  (26)
Rws 58-64: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (26)
Rw 65: Holding Row 64 and the side of BACK CUFF with right side touching and working through both thicknesses, sc in each sc across.  (26)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
