LITTLE WOLVERINE
This is rendering of the famed Wolverine character from MARVEL X-MEN comics and movies. It is the continuing series of dolls depicting popular comics book characters. I starting on comics characters as a respond that I was making characters that were for girls.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Yellow, black, buff, blue, and red
D crochet hook
White and black embroidery floss
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
6 toothpicks
Craft glue
Silver paint (optional)
Paintbrush (optional)
DOLL:
BODY:
Rd 1: With yellow, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in first sc. (9)
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (12)
NOW WORKING JOINED ROUNDS.
Rd 4: slip st in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, change to black, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next 3 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, join with slip in first sc. (15)
Rd 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, change to black, sc in next 4 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to black, sc in next 4 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, join. (15)
Rd 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change t black, sc in next 4 sc, change to yellow, sc in next sc, change to black, sc in next 4 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 5 sc, join changing to black. (15)
Rd 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 7 sc, change to buff, sc in next 5 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, join changing to yellow. (15)
Rd 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, change to buff, sc in next 5 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, change to yellow, sc in next 6 sc, join. (15)
Rd 9: Ch 1, turn; (sc2tog) 3 times, change to black, sc2tog, change to buff, sc2tog, sc in next sc, sc2tog, change to black, sc2tog, join changing to yellow. (8)
NOW WORKING IN UNJOINED ROUNDS
Rd 10: Ch 1, turn; sc in next sc, change to black, sc in next 3 sc, change to yellow, sc in next 4 sc. (8)
Rd 11: sc in each sc around. (8)
Rd 12: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (12)
Rd 13: 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 7 sc. (17)
Rd 14: sc in each c around. (17)
Rd 15: (sc2tog) 5 times, sc in next 7 sc. (12)
Rds 16-18: sc in each sc around. (12) Change to blue.
Rds 19-20: sc in each sc around. (12) Change to yellow.
BEGIN STUFFING WOLVERINE DOLL AT THIS POINT AND CONTINUE TO STUFF AS YOU GO.
RIGHT LEG:
Rd 21: sc in next 3 sc, skip next 6 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (6)
Rd 22-26: sc in each sc around. (6) Change to blue.
Rd 27-28: sc in each sc around. (6)
Rd 29: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc. (5)
Rd 30: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc. (7)
Rd 31: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc. (9)
Rd 32: sc in each sc around. (9)
Rd 33: Working in back loops only, (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail to close opening. Whip stitch the opening closed. Weave in ends.
LEFT LEG:
Rd 21: Attach yellow in first skipped sc with slip st, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 5 sc. (6)
Rds 22-33: Same as RIGHT LEG.
ARMS (MAKE 2):
STUFF ARMS AS YOU GO.
Rd 1: With blue, ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (5)
Rds 2-3: sc in each sc around. (5) Change to buff.
Rds 5-9: sc in each sc around. (5)
Rd 10: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc. (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew ARMS to BODY.
BELT:
Rw 1: With red, ch 29, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (18)
Finish off leavng a long tail to sew ends of BELT together after wrapping around BODY.
SHOULDER WINGS:
Rw 1: Working around arm joining, with blue, sc 5 times. (5)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next sc,sc2tog. (3)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc3tog. (1)
Finish off. Weave in ends. Repeat around second ARM.
EARS:
Rw 1: Attach black lining up with black sc on head, ch 1, sc in next sc, sc2tog. (2)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog. (1)
Finish off Weave in ends. Repeat on other side of head.
CLAWS:
Poke 3 toothpicks into each hand. Glue in place. OPTIONAL: Paint CLAWS silver.
Use embroidery floss to embroider eyes, nose, and mouth on doll.
