This is rendering of the famed Merida character from Disney’s Brave. It is the continuing series of dolls depicting each of the Disney Princesses and Tinkerbell.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Buff, carrot, soft navy, and warm brown
Embroidery floss: White, black, red, and carrot
D crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
3 toothpicks
Tape
2 plastic handle paintbrushes
Craft knife
Black button-thick thread
Black and brown paint
DOLL:
Make Little Farrah doll with carrot hair and eyebrows.
DRESS:
BODICE:
Rw 1: With soft navy, ch 15, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (14)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (14)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 5 sc. (19)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; sc n each sc across. (19)
Rw 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 2 sc, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next sc, slip st in same sc as last sc, slip in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as last slip st, (sc2tog) twice, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew back seam closed.
SLEEVES:
Rw 1: Attach soft navy in second skipped sc, ch1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in side of Row 5, sc in next 3 chs, sc in side of Row 5, sc in skipped sc. (12)
Rws 2-3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (7) Change to warm brown.
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn sc in each sc across. (7) Change to soft navy.
Rws 5-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (7)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew sleeve closed.
Repeat in second armhole.
SKIRT:
Rd 1: Attach soft navy with slip st in first free loop of foundation ch of BODICE with wrong side facing , ch 1, sc in next 5 ch, 2 hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 hdc in next ch, sc in next 6 sc, join with slip st in first sc. (16)
Rd 2: Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, sc in next 5 sc, join. (18)
Rd 3: Ch 3 (Counts as first dc here and throughout), (2 dc in next sc, dc in next sc) twice, 2 dc in next sc, hdc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, (dc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc) 4 times, join. (27)
Rds 4-8: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join. (27)
Rd 9: Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc) around, join. (30)
Finish off. Weave in ends.
CAPE:
Rw 1: With black, ch 6, sc in second ch from hook and in each across. (5)
Rw 2: Ch 3, turn; dc in same sc as beginning ch-3, dc in each sc across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc. (7)
Rws 3-5: Ch 3, turn; dc in same dc, dc in each dc across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. (13 after Row 5)
Rws 6-8: Ch 3, turn; dc in each dc across. (13)
Finish off.
ARROWS:
Use tape to make feathers on one end of the each toothpick. Paint ARROWS black. Set aside to dry completely.
BOW:
Use craft knife to cut bottom 3” off plastic paintbrush. Tape two pieces together. Bend BOW to desired shape. Wrap black thread around each end of BOW and secure. This helps keep the BOW shape. Paint BOW brown. Set aside to dry completely.
QUIVER:
Rw 1: With warm brown, ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (8)
Rws 2-4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail Match stitches of Row 4 with free loops of foundation ch and sew together.
QUIVER STRAP:
Attach warm brown to side of QUIVER, ch 10, slip st in left side of waist of DRESS, ch 10, slip st in same st as attachment long with DRESS 3 rows below left attachment.
ASSEMBLY:
Place DRESS on doll and sew back seam closed. Sew CAPE to neck of back of DRESS. Place ARROW in QUIVER. Attach BOW to left hand of doll.
Use embroidery floss to embroider face on doll.
