GINGERBREAD DRAGON

This is my version of a Gingerbread Dragon that a friend of mine saw on Instagram. There is also a white Christmas Dragon in the same post that I will be making for my daughter as a Christmas present. That pattern will be coming soon.

And before any asks, the pattern calls for black safety eyes and the one in the picture has 1 red and 1 green safety eyes. That is what the person I made this for requested.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn: Baked clay, white, red, and green.
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle
Floral wire
10mm black safety eyes

Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew HEAD BUMPS to BODY stuffing before closing. Weave in ends.

SIDEBURNS (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With white, ch 4, 2 sc in second ch from hook, 2 hdc in next ch, dc in next ch. (5)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew SIDEBURNS to BODY. Weave in ends.

HORNS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With red, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rds 2-4: sc in each sc around. (6)
Rd 5: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (8)
Rds 6-10: sc in each sc around. (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Stuff HORNS firmly. Sew HORNS to BODY. Weave in ends.

HORN WRAPS (MAKE 2):
With white, ch 40. Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew HORN WRAPS to HORNS wrapping it around the HORN a couple of times before securing. Weave in ends.

LARGE SPINE BUMPS (MAKE 4):
Rd 1: With green, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (8)
Rd 3: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (10)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around. (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew LARGE SPINE BUMPS to BODY. Weave in ends.

SMALL SPINE BUMPS (MAKE 4):
Rd 1: With green, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
Rd 2: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (8)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around. (8)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew SMALL SPINE BUMPS to BODY. Weave in ends.

MINTS (MAKE 6—3 IN RED AND WHITE, 3 IN GREEN AND WHITE):
CHANGE COLOR IN EVERY OTHER STITCH IN RD 1 AND EVERY 2 STITCHES IN RD 2.
Rd 1: 8 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc. (8)
Rd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc. (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew 2 RED MINTS and 1 GREEN MINT to left side of the BODY and 2 GREEN MINTS and 1 RED MINT to the right side of the BODY. Weave in ends. 

WHITE LINES AROUND MINTS (MAKE COMPLETE ON BOTH SIDES OF BODY): 

With white, surface chain around the MINTS on both sides of the BODY. Use picture above as guide for the design of the lines.

TOENAILS (MAKE 12—4 IN GREEN, 8 IN RED):
Rd 1: With red or green, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch. (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around. (4)
Finish off. Weave in ends.

LEGS (MAKE 4):
Rd 1: Attach baked clay in first sc on red TOENAIL, ch 1, 2 sc in same sc as attachment, sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc of green TOENAIL, sc in next sc of red TOENAIL, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc of green TOENAIL, sc in next sc on red TOENAIL, 2 sc in next sc. (16)
Rds 2-6: sc in each sc around. (16)
Rd 7: (sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog) around. (14)
Rd 8: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around. (12)

WING EDGING (COMPLETE ON BOTH WINGS):
Rd 1: Attach white in last sc of Rw 8, ch 1, working over floral wire, working in the side of Rws, 2 sc in next Rw, sc in next 6 Rws, 2 sc in next Rw, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 16 ch, working in the side of Rws, 2 sc in next 2 Rws, sc in unworked sc of Rw 2, sc together next unworked sc, last used sc, and the side of next Rw, 2 sc in next Rw, sc in unworked sc of Rw 4, sc together next unworked sc, last used sc, and the side of next Rw, 2 sc in next Rw, sc in unworked sc of Rw 6, sc together next unworked sc, last used sc, and the side of next Rw, 2 sc in next Rw, sc in next 10 sc of Rw 8, slip st in first sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew WINGS to BODY. Weave in ends.

TAIL HAT:
Rd 1: With white, 6 sc in magic ring. (6)

STUFF HAT BALL FIRMLY.
Rd 6: sc2tog around. (6) Change to red.
